Marc D 04-28-2010 03:02 AM

whoa, why you selling it?

cjernigan 04-28-2010 10:36 PM

I've decided to build a dedicated track car that I can afford to lose if I happen to put it into the wall. This car is not something I can afford to strip/cage or ball up into a tire wall. So it has to go in order for me to build a dedicated track rat.

It's essentially ready for someone to take away and race in Miata challenge track days, HPDEs, autocross, whatever you want.

I'll even throw in a custom "your specs" alignment to whatever specs you want as long as they can be physically achieved within the restraints of the current suspension at a given ride height.

if only you wanted a fast in a straight line car, im looking to trade my cobra, built motor, built trans, aluminum drive shaft, 4.10's it just needs a pair of turbos

magnamx-5 04-29-2010 12:58 AM

Yeah no straight line cars for me. I prefer acceleration G's when they're out off a corner.

Yeah hopefully I can find the right buyer. The car just wants to be driven. It's very fast and very fun but I want something with a hardtop and a N/A motor.

Doppelgänger 04-29-2010 09:03 AM

Damn man...that is one VERY well sorted car...

Hope ya stick 'round these parts and don't up and leave us like MarkP did lol

cjernigan 04-29-2010 01:54 PM

I won't be going anywhere. There is always the chance I'll end up with another miata, we'll see.

flier129 04-29-2010 06:59 PM

I've always liked your car. When I saw it at the TRSCCA autox on NSS in 08 it gave me the motivation to finish mine.

Wish I had the money to buy it from ya!

It's a good bit different from then. Pretty sure the car didn't even have suspension then. Thank you for the kind words. Wish I could make another autocross.

cjernigan 04-30-2010 12:45 AM

Also want to make everyone aware I'm willing to negotiate the price. The car deserves to be driven, just needs the right buyer.

cjernigan 05-01-2010 02:22 PM

Price reduced today. Hopefully getting the car on the dyno tonight.

Pitlab77 05-01-2010 04:05 PM

That sucks. You spent so much time fixing the kinks in that car . good luck

Rafa 05-02-2010 07:14 PM

Chad; everything ok with you and the floods?

sbrian2 05-02-2010 07:17 PM

Chad is in Alabama now I believe, so he should be fine.

Auburn is just outside of the storm cell. We didn't get any rain from it. My girlfriend however is so close to being flooded out it isn't funny. She has the drainage creek in her backyard for the entire neighborhood. It was flowing over the banks but it would dissipate just enough that only about an inch accumulated in her basement garage.

Good to know.

Sorry for your girlfriend's home. Hope it doesn't get worse.

And sorry for crapping on your thread

cjernigan 05-09-2010 11:42 PM

Car is still up for sale. It's getting a Walbro 255 this coming week and a retune. Then I'm putting it back on the dyno.

vw_nut 05-10-2010 09:20 AM

Sweet ride, wish it was in my budget..

18psi 05-11-2010 01:28 AM

any underhood pics?

cjernigan 05-11-2010 09:46 AM

I'll post some later tonight.

fmowry 05-12-2010 07:25 AM

Good luck on the sale. I remember when this car was up on ebay before you got it. I almost bid on it and remember when you joined here. Mucho improvement over the cobbled together turbo setup it had when you bought it.

I need another car like I need a hole in my head (which my wife would gladly supply if I bought this).

Frank

We all miss the "John Holmes" EWG setup. :giggle:

That was awesome. I drove it quite a while that way. I hope I never see something similar ever again.

cjernigan 05-14-2010 01:25 PM

Got the fuel pump in the mail today. Should end up with excellent results.

flier129 05-14-2010 02:00 PM

Really wish I was in a position to buy this car. Im surprised its not gone yet. Its not your run of the mill "look I put a turbo on my car".... car.

locomonkeyboricua 05-16-2010 11:14 PM

any dyno updates? maybe a video? the market for cars is bad now. i just sold my miata t for 5k and it had 220whp.

cjernigan 05-16-2010 11:35 PM

I hope to have it on the dyno this week. Depends on how work goes though. We're waiting on the new car to get back from the body shop so we can prep it for Limerock. That usually means i'll be working nights/weekends which leaves no miata time.

Last time it was on the dyno it made 240rwhp/238rwtq on a dynapack uncorrected with a horrible tune. The correction factor is about 10% for our dyno, especially with the temperature in the room at the time.

cjernigan 05-19-2010 09:08 PM

Car is doing great with the new fuel pump. I'm going to be busy/gone for the next month though so I won't have dyno data until after I get back. It's the middle of the race season so I don't have much time for the miata right now, if any at all.

Car is still for sale though. I daily drive it comfortably and wouldn't hesitate to recommend someone else do the same.

I'm including a torsen diff with the sale of the car.

Come and get it.

cjernigan 05-24-2010 02:52 AM

I'll be out of town for 3-5 weeks in case anyone is interested in viewing the car. I'll have internet and I'll respond to PMs and this thread as quickly as I can while traveling.

cjernigan 06-08-2010 01:56 AM

I'm back in town now for another week for anyone interested in the car. I'll be available my PM, Email, Phone or in person.

flier129 06-08-2010 10:36 AM

Its covertible buying season, Im sure someone looking for a MSM will jump all over this. Well I would anyways...

Got any engine bay shots?

country_agent1@yahoo.com 07-11-2010 01:22 PM

PM sent - if we can work on the price I think we might be able to work something out.

If you end up buying it, you'll be a lucky bastard!

Cjernigan's car is really well sorted out. I wish I could've imported it.

heartnsymphony 07-12-2010 12:36 AM

Newbie here. Looks like a great price. I just wish I wasn't living in CA :(

It's a really damn good price! I was trying to figure out how much I'd post mine for if I were to sell. I was thinking the 11k-13k range. Then I saw his for sale.

Mine's a 1997 that's not as purty. It's faster, but not as new. I think $9900 is a steal if it's well-sorted.

Ardenmiata 09-07-2010 11:54 AM

Nice car. A few grand more than I have, but great car.

Newbie...

cjernigan 09-29-2010 11:42 AM

Car is still for sale. I've been busy with work and life in general and haven't been actively selling it locally or elsewhere. If anyone is interested let me know and we can work on the details, including price of course.
Need to sell.

vw_nut 09-30-2010 08:35 AM

Wish I caught up with you this summer. Kind of getting ready for hybernation mode now.

Any engine bay pics? Is the car driven regularly or in storage?

Here are the long awaited engine bay pictures. I drive the car a couple times a month.

znatural1@yahoo.com 10-05-2010 11:03 PM

What are the dyno results? It has caught my eye.

cjernigan 10-07-2010 08:29 AM

The car made 242hp and 238 tq on a dynapack dyno. It's now running two more psi but hasn't been back on the dyno since.

posidon42 10-17-2010 11:11 PM

This has caught my eye again. I am starting to miss my car since I sold it last year. Car looks great as usual.

I had the Hydra on my car, how hard is the Adaptronic to use? Oh, and how bad to you want to sell it? :)

cjernigan 10-25-2010 04:42 PM

You have mail posidon!

Car is still up for sale.

cjernigan 11-16-2010 04:21 PM

Replied to PMs.
Been busy at work, forgot to check the forum lately. Sorry guys.

Car is still up for sale.

turbofan 11-28-2010 06:46 PM

Here's hoping that in a few years when I'm in the market for a car exactly like this, I'm able to find this kind of deal. Free bump, awesome car, wish I was in a position to buy it.

cjernigan 12-13-2010 01:23 PM

Just got the car out of storage, drained the coolant and refilled to make sure it would handle the recent cold weather in Alabama. Put the car back into storage after a drive.

I can no longer update the thread title or original post. Car is still for sale though.
