Yep. 300whp in our cars is NOT slow. Despite what some of the posers say

FowlerMotorsports 02-19-2013 09:51 PM

If this wasn't already turbod i'd totally buy it for my next car, I love me a white NB, that's my next car :)

turbofan 02-23-2013 07:23 PM

Alright guys, life has changed a lot. We are officially flying to Africa on March 13. If the car is not sold by March 10 I'm keeping it.

I would take $7250 without the laptop, or $7350 with the laptop... but you'll want the laptop since it has the tunes and full tunerstudio and everything on it.

Tell your friends, honda owners, whatever... This car is sick and for sale.

TheGrim 02-23-2013 10:48 PM

I still say we should trade...:) GLWS, doubt mine will sell by then.

montegofd3s 03-02-2013 10:04 PM

Nice car. Still for sale? I was looking to see if it had a/c. I didn't see it in the thread, but 4 pages is a lot of info to digest.

Thanks,
josh

For sale for another week or I'm keeping it. Still has A/C. I am told it works; I have never driven it in temps above 50 degrees so I cannot confirm or deny. Seems to kick on if I turn it on though.

thanks. I wish it was closer. Looks like a great little car. Just don't think we have the time to make a deal and ship.

Where are you located? Fly out and drive it home. Happy to pick you up from the airport.

Also, if I had a deposit on the car I could wait a little longer than a week. If you're genuinely interested let me know and we will talk.

Dubbleduecer 03-03-2013 01:04 PM

I live in Toledo, an hour south of Saline MI. Is that where you currently are with this car? I'd like to come check it out. I'm just concerned with this misfire issue as well as the fact that the previous 2 owners have sold the car after owning it for a very short time. Makes me wonder if there are some problems..

Well come take a look at it. I'm available mon-wed this week. Shoot me a PM and we will figure it out.

I have determined that the misfire is due to some level of overboosting. I watched the gauge when I had it out a couple days ago and it hits 20psi and misfires at the same time. Will be doing some troubleshooting tomorrow. Going to hook up a line from intake Mani to WGA and see what happens with base boost.

kiladonut 03-03-2013 02:59 PM

The A/C worked when I had the car, but it would oscillate at idle really bad because of the tune. I used a/c while cruising on the highway and it was nice a cold. I would just turn it off if I was going to have to stop or go into neutral. Ghetto, but worked.

Dubbleduecer, I was the PO. The guy I bought the car off of was buying a house which is why he sold the car. I bought the car for a fun summer car (did not disappoint) but I have another miata and I was looking to get out of my loan at the time. I also didn't want to deal with PA inspection and I was relying on a friend to help me with megasquirt. I never picked it up 100% and didn't want to have to rely on someone else for tuning help. When I owned this car there was nothing wrong it with aside from the fact that it was never tuned to its full potential.

I am in New Orleans. I am going to look into shipping it if I have time. Looks to quote me about 799 to ship it here. It may be worth that not to fly and drive it home.

FowlerMotorsports 03-03-2013 06:27 PM

Fly out, drive that bitch home in style

Thanks Tim, I appreciate the input!

Dubble, I realize you don't have enough posts to PM, just post in the thread... or you can email me at edwin daniel may (86) at gmail.com without the spaces or parenthesis and I'll give you my phone number. Or do both. Whatever.

For any who are following this, Misfire issue update:

Today I removed the ball and spring from the manual boost controller and plugged the bleed hole to see what would happen (basically bypassing the MBC). Set up that way, it goes up to a solid 15 psi and holds nice and smooth. Car runs awesome. Problem was that when very cold, the denser air caused higher boost pressures (this is normal with manual boost controllers) causing it to hit boost cutoff (about 20 psi). No harm done there, as this engine will easily handle 20 psi.

Anyway... looks like dubble popped in and out and hasn't been seen again. I am likely gonna keep this thing unless someone shows up out of nowhere and buys it. Every day I become more and more OK with that :D

Dubbleduecer 03-05-2013 07:37 PM

I'm sorry, work sucks. Louisville training all last week and now I'm trying to get caught up. I'm going to email you.
-Thanks

Edit: email sent at 7:45. Let me know if you don't get it for some reason.

Fathom55 03-06-2013 08:35 PM

Friend of mine from HS just sold this Miata, sad to see it go. In the works to build another atm. Possible to buy your car to start as a platform.

Cool. Do keep in mind, the car is now with me in Utah and the price is now $8000 firm. I had to register it And drive it across the country and its spring, so price went up.

birdzofprey 04-20-2013 03:20 AM

I'm pretty interested in this car. I wouldn't be able to come up and get it until next month either during the week starting Weds 5/8 or the week starting Weds 5/22. I would have to fly up and drive it back to TX though so for that additional cost, I would request to negotiate a little.

Tell ya what: find one close to you that's the same and I'll beat their price.

I'm quite firm at $8k now. I had to drive it out here from Michigan and the weather is just getting nice! I was firm at 7350 before, so I have to recoup my other costs of registration and transport out here. Otherwise I'll keep it and enjoy it. It wouldn't be for sale at all if I didn't have to spend most of my savings to fix that damn Volvo.

birdzofprey 04-20-2013 03:30 PM

Ok so this car has been for sell for months and nobody could even come up wirh the money when you had it at 7350. Then you added mileage driving to another state and increased the price back up to 8000 because you decided to register a vehicle you wanted to sell? When I checked airfare yesterday for a one way ticket from san antonio, tx to salt lake city, utah...the price was $315. So my request to negotiate would be to drop that $300 giving you a total of $7700 which is still greater than your previous asking price. If I were local to you...id give you your asking price, but im not and this is the best I could possibly do for having to travel. Anyway, Ill start looking at other options, but GLWS and thanks for looking at my offer.

It was for sale in the middle of winter. Prime buying time is now. You buy them in the winter time, they're less than if you buy them in spring.

I had to register it to drive it 1700 miles to Utah. Wasn't going to do that in an unregistered vehicle and towing wasn't really an option. I had full intentions of keeping the miata but my damned Volvo blew its motor as we were leaving which is over 3k to fix... eating up most of our small savings safety cushion. I had it priced low to motivate someone to buy in winter so I wouldn't have to move it. I am not willing to lose even more money on it. If it doesn't sell for what I need to get out of it, I will just enjoy it this summer. I don't NEED to sell it, but if I can get a good price for it I will.

That being said, I would be willing to split your plane ticket off the $8k price.

I don't mean to be a jerk, just gotta understand where I'm coming from. The 7350 was an insane price for this car. The insanity has ended.

birdzofprey 04-20-2013 06:57 PM

I guess because I live in a state so far south we only really have 2 seasons...hot and ridiculously hot, so none of the cars ive ever seen for sale here have adjusted pricing based on seasons. Paying 50% of the ticket is a nice gesture...but lets say I bring my own netbook and you keep yours, would you consider the 7700 offer at that point? We could just transfer the software and any maps or content needed for the car. Ill play with some financial figures to see what i can come up with if not.

I'd be willing to consider something like that. I don't know about transferring tuner studio and stuff (the netbook has full tinerstudio on it) but if that's possible then that's fine. I just saw my same netbook on sale at Walmart for $269 so not a bad deal for me. Let me know what you come up with.

birdzofprey 04-22-2013 12:35 PM

Ok, financials are in order. Had to make some some autopay adjustments with the bank but money aspect is good. Now just working on travel arrangements. I'll either be getting my ticket from airline friend or through my work, not sure yet...whoever has the best deal lol. I'm going to try for the week starting 5/8 but depends on my job, for sure it will either be that week or the week starting 5/22.
