Default 94 Black EFR Turbo w/ Lots of extras

Category: Import
Status: Clean Title

Car: 1994 Miata

Mileage: 131400 miles

Price: $5500 or $5900 with extras package

Location: Melbourne, FL

Contact: Roy by email - tglebas at gmail

Back story: I bought this car with a poorly running Link ECU and a blown turbo in 2012. I spent a lot of time and money to straighten out issues and make it an enjoyable car to drive. I would like to build a motor and paint it but realistically I'm not going to get it done or I would have done it by now. I have two other cars and a bunch of house projects on my plate. That being said I want to see this car go to a good home so this is the only place I am advertising it. I feel it is priced so the new owner can make the goals I had for this car complete.

I have added the following parts:

Running on MS3x (have knock module but not installed)
Brand new EFR 6258 turbo
New kumho tires front and rear
Manual steering rack
4 wheel alignment

Welded cracked manifold
New thermostat
New right rear brake caliper
New throw out bearing

New Walbro 190 fuel pump
New Front sway bar end links
Rad hoses and coolant flush
Custom seat mount and racing seat (still have stock drivers seat and steering wheel)

Replaced CAS (old one failed)

Extras Package (over $1,000 in parts)

1.8 long block (unknown miles)
New Scat Rods
New Supertech 83.5 piston w/ rings
New ARP head stud kit
New axles and rear hubs
New energy suspension full busing kit
New Skou
Coolant Spacer

Mods done by two previous owners, one who was a mechanical engineer that worked for Borg Warner as a product designer. Almost all mods were done within the past 10k miles.

Drivetrain Mods (270whp/250ft-lbs at 12lbs of boost):
Turbocharger – BorgWarner EFR 6258 with integrated BPV
Custom 3” exhaust - it's mildly aggressive with two resonators, a straight through muffler and a straight through high flow cat. Passed emissions inspection in MD.
Exhaust Manifold - JGS Semi-Custom
Injectors – RC 550
WBO2 – Innovate LC-1 Wideband Oxygen Sensor
Mazda Torsen Differential
Motor Mounts – Mazda Competition
Clutch – Flyin’ Miata Level 1 Clutch Kit 318 lb-ft
New master and slave clutch cylinders

Suspension / Tire / Brake Modifications:
Flyin Miata Tokico Illumina Suspension (5k old)
Drilled / Slotted Rotors
Brakes Pads - Axxis F&R Ultimate
Wheels – Team Dynamics Race 2
Shock Tower Strut Brace

Interior / Exterior Modifications:
Soft top with a new black cloth top with zip down rear plastic window and new rain rail

Momo Corse steering wheel and Steering Wheel Hub Adapter
Hard Dog Sport Stainless Roll Bar
Rear Lip Spoiler
Boost Gauge – Auto Meter Phantom
AFR Gauge – Innovate G2

Car also comes with:
Complete AC system parts
Two service manuals - the large factory service manual in the blue binder with all inserts along with a large detailed manual.

Does it have a 6 speed? Or does it have one of the magic fairy dust 5 speeds that somehow is staying together at 270whp

Thanks Forrest95M. I hope to sell to some one like you with some enthusiasm for the project.

slowcarfast Honestly I think they were dyno queen numbers. The guy I bought it from came after the Borg Warner engineer and barely drove it because of its issues. I have not really driven it hard (i.e. no track time) - street cruiser typically hitting 7-8psi because I dont want an unplanned grenading of stock rods or trans.

I think I need to add to this because I am getting asked a lot:
  • Minor surface rust underneath but no serious cancer rot.
  • It does need some more idle tuning as it does not like hot restarts.
  • Also it does burn some oil (im assuming cylinder #4 wear). I have not tracked this and just top of if required. Sorry I dont have a better answer. I would really like to make this whole package a good deal for someone so they dont have to worry about the current motor and can build a motor and make use of the EFR.
This weekend I will try to get some underside pictures and a video of the car driving.

Makes sense, the rods probably wouldn't be holding up too well if it was driven in anger at that power level. My wife will probably kill me if I buy another car, but if you find a buyer who doesn't want your "extras" package I would be interested. I'm in the Tampa area.
