NA6C-Guy 05-02-2011 04:02 AM

I like how his body has already been buried at sea. So much for further proof..... :bang:

shuiend 05-02-2011 08:05 AM

So does this mean we finally GTFO out of Afghanistan?

thirdgen 05-02-2011 11:40 AM

This is the political section and my thoughts are...what's next now that Bin Laden is supposedly dead? 2012 is coming up and I actually read a comment somewhere the other day. It said something like our government probably is planning to stage an Alien invasion? Anybody catch wind of anything like that?

Here's where I stand on conspiracy theories:
I don't really care if things happened how the news says they happened. I just like the fact that some people truly believe that the government does stuff on purpose to instill fear into the people. Am I one of those people who believe the theories? Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. I just support the fact that there is always 2 sides to a story. The most accepted answer to believe always seems like the easiest answer. The people like to feel secure, and fear, I do believe, is what keeps the merry go round spinning.

I apologize if I offend or have offended anybody with my theories or comments, but don't take them seriously. We all have our opinions and I am a "must see in person to believe" kind of person. Do you think David Copperfield really made that Orient Express train car dissappear on his TV special? It was on television...I wanna see it in person, cause until then, he's a bullshit artist in my eyes. Ya dig?

Not at all.

Not offended, just stirring the pot.

I hope you understand the dressing-down in the other forum.

I think it's healthy to be somewhat skeptical. But you have to be rational about it for it to be practical.

The birther thing was largely irrational. People didn't come forward with proof to counter the argument, they just picked holes in the other side and generated forged documents to support their false claims. That's not proof, that's denialism.

As for the bin laden death, it does seem fishy (ha ha!) that he was buried at sea. I can see the rationale for it but I can also see how it would appear to be a huge load of BS and a cheap "out" from proving there was a body. I think time will have to tell with further proof and eyewitness accounts from the scene as well as potential video or photos. But you know, *everything* can be faked. You just have to decide when to stop suspending your disbelief and do it without a political bias.

Also there was this guy named Jesus. Talk about a skeptic-fest.

Not really. The terrorists are surely to retaliate any minute now; hence the need to take away even more freedoms from you.

eerily probably not far from the truth in some combat arenas.

JasonC SBB 05-04-2011 11:50 AM

The White House promised that we invaded Afghanistan in order to get Bin Laden.
Now that we got him, can we now get out?

Or did the promise fall into the memory hole?

There's a very good reason that the controls and visual presentation for things like an MQ-9 Reaper are based mostly on off-the-shelf videogame technology. The "pilots" have already put in thousands of hours at becoming proficient in their use long before joining the service. It is in the military's best interest (from the standpoint of operator efficiency) to make flying a UAV in the real world as similar as possible to doing it on an Xbox.

Not to mention it beats the hell out of putting an American in harms way.

No need to withdraw troops from Afganistan either then. Nice location to have a foothold between three growing giant economies btw.

Hey guys! I went fishing today and caught a 20lb bass. In a kayak...barehanded. Too bad no one saw it...

Really, my honest to God worry is what is going on behind the scenes while they're parading this show up front. Politicians are like magicians...they wave around one hand to distract you while they do the "trick" with their other.
