So what do you think about Obama not releasing the photos? I am frankly pissed off and this guy seems to love people doubting him, first taking 2.5 years to release his birth certificate, and now refusing to release photos of a dead body. Seriously, this shit is a joke.

gospeed81 05-04-2011 10:47 PM

You're watching the wrong hand...

I mean seriously...his excuse is that "we're not like that"...fuck, we still waterboard people and detain in Guantanamo even though he campaigned on getting rid of both. Like we have to refrain from possibly offending a few Muslims...we're Americans and should live our lives as such without fear.

Preluding 05-05-2011 07:39 AM

IF there is a photo and video available... I'm sure someone would have released it to wikileaks by now.

gospeed81 05-05-2011 09:09 AM

Move on folks...nothing to see here...go out and chant in the street with the rest of the sheep.

FRT_Fun 05-05-2011 09:27 AM

I'm okay with it. I don't care to be honest. Even if photos are released people will still doubt it. Conspirators will have their crazy theories no matter how much evidence is released. So now we would have pissed off terrorists and still have not conviced the people who were not convinced to begin with.

Declaring war on any criminal activity does not justify death sentence without trial or many other things going on in the middle east by that matter. Isn't the western world supposed to stand for democracy, human rights and all that? Funny how our own rights are going down the drain while fighting dictators though.
Anyway, can't blame their timing. The economy in big trouble, people maybe a bit fed up Obama's "change" while mainly caring for the banking/corporate sector? Even the central banks printing money (QE) is messing up capitalism big time (very high inflation eating away purchasing power of the middle class, malinvestment, new bubbles). It needs to cool off for a while soon. The public definitely needs a sentiment boost to shoulder the economy: voila, Osama is dead, all your troubles are over. Get a new debt, buy a car, house, get into stocks before the next big crash...

Bond 05-05-2011 10:47 AM

Why do we care about the middle east? it's not like we live there...who gives a shit. Where is my oil?

Braineack 05-05-2011 10:50 AM

It wasnt a criminal activity, it was an act of war. Don't down play that. A criminal pays for sex, a criminal smokes weed, a criminal robs a store. a criminal doesn't mastermind the death of 3000 human lives.

If the western world stood for democracy, the entire US population would have simply voted and he would be killed on the spot. that's how democracy works.

Since the western world stands for the Republic, had he been captured, he would have been treated like a king, given 3 meals a day for years and year, until we finally gave him a public trial where he could defend himself publically and become a mytar and grandstand before we finally sentensed him to death. he would then live for another 5-10 years while his case was on appeal.

Destroying those who destory is 100% moral and just.

FRT_Fun 05-05-2011 10:54 AM

guys, he was reaching for a GUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! I think the fact that everyone in that compond was not dead is pretty respectable right there. We could have just as easily dropped a bomb, risked no lives, killed osama and called it a day. Or we could have went in guns blazing and killed everyone. Fuck everyone will never be satisfied, boohoo, don't care.

lordrigamus 05-05-2011 11:52 AM

The extremists hate us for who we are, not what we do. The feeling is the same whether we killed Bin Laden, post a caricature of Muhammad, or open a McDonald's in a moderate middle eastern nation. They despise anyone who does not believe in their twisted interpretation of the Koran and believe anyone who cannot be converted should be executed. Religious extremism at it's finest. It's not just the Western Democracies either, it's anyone who does not believe in their way of life and their 14th century morality. They believe the murder of innocents, women and children is justified if it advances the progression of their views on Islam. This will never change because they will never change. This is what they believe to be true.

Yes, there will be probably ramifications because of what we did but there would have been ramifications anyway because of who we are and what we believe. The extremists will not be satisfied until the whole world is converted to their way of thought. This is their stated goal and they will do whatever it takes to accomplish it including insurrection, destabilizing of a country, torture and murder. These things would have happened anyway regardless of if we killed Bin Laden or not. It just may have taken slightly longer but the end result would have been the same.

The death of one man who orchestrated the death of thousands, does not bother me in the least. I'm pretty sure the end result would have been the same whether he stood trial or not. This way, at least, our tax dollars wont be spent on a trail where he can promote his views or become a martyr so he can rally more fiendish people to his cause. Evil will not cease to be evil because we want it to or because of what we do or do not do. It remains evil, regardless.

Just my two pennies.

? I don't feel like they despise us Scandinavians. Our way of life does not differ that much from yours.

Braineack 05-05-2011 01:31 PM

I'm pretty sure they do. Not sure how you came to this conclusion.

Nor the Swiss.

The difference is that the Swiss and Scandinavians don't go on overseas adventures bombing other countries.

"They hate us because we're free" is propaganda by megalomanic empire-builders. The Founders of this country specifically warned against it. And that huge standing armies are inimical to freedom.

The Scandinavians have more freedom in many areas of life than US citizens. They don't have the Patriot Act, have no draconian drug laws nor money-laundering laws that violate financial privacy, have far lower threat of nuisance lawsuits, and hotel rooms have free porn.

Sure the extremist mullah types hate all infidels, but they can't do shit and recruit the average Joe (Ahmed?) to fight a war just with that. Now if the average Ahmed sees American planes bombing shit, then the mullahs can take that anger and convince Ahmed that he will have 22 virgins if he straps a bomb to his chest:

Unlike many of you assholes I've traveled to Arab countries and they do NOT "hate Americans because we are free or because we're not Muslim". They hate the meddling, especially the unequivocal support of Israel. Israel doesn't need our help, they can kick Arab ass all by themselves.

The idea too, that one must "secure the supply of oil" by military means is BS. One can leave the free market alone. There are many critical items which some countries have virtual monopolies on, such as: certain types of electronic components which a handful of companies, all Japanese, produce, but which compete with each other. There is no need to "secure the supply" by invading Japan or putting them under our thumb. Mutually beneficial trade is the best way to ensure peace.

The top 3 sources for US oil are:
- USA
- Canada
- Mexico

Much more diversified than iPad or hybrid car parts.

The real history for "securing the oil" is here:

now if only our refieneries were working at capaicity so our refined crude oil stock pile could be turne dinto gasoline.

The last two posts are dead on.

This country is IMHO far and away the most benevolent superpower ever. However, we are also a lot like a drunken giant with a very short memory stumbling about. People are pissed and we dont understand why, because we did not really set out to fuck with them. Yet indirectly or sometimes directly, we did.

Killing Osama was right, I have zero issue with it. In fact one of the few pleasant surprises in the Obama presidency has been his willingness to give such ops the go. And sorry, but once 9/11 goes down, you really dont have a hell of a lot of choice but to respond directly, and that means our guys have to go kill some people. Sucks.

But the fact is that we sell military hardware at cut-rate pricing and outright send cash to some pretty objectionable people and dont even seem to acknowledge that. I would be pissed too. You kow how many billions we fed the Egyptian gov? How do you think they feel about that? I doubt they are that pissed over some McDonalds and Baseball. Just maybe if we did not do that, we would not have to send our people to kick ass quite so frequently.

Braineack 05-09-2011 02:16 PM

some ally:

Pakistan's prime minister warned the United States Monday that his country could respond to any future U.S. raids on its soil with "full force," in the latest escalation of rhetoric in the wake of Usama bin Laden's death.

"Pakistan reserves the right to retaliate with full force. No one should underestimate the resolve and capability of our nation and armed forces to defend our sacred homeland," Gilani said.

Golly Gee, I thought they helped us?!
