Canadian Election

Any Canadians following the election?

falcon 05-02-2011 11:06 PM

Yes. Kinda saw the conservative majority happening even though I voted ndp.

Preluding 05-03-2011 07:46 AM

Tories won because NDP ended up stealing all the liberals votes instead of the PC votes.

Kinda sad for the liberals really.

That being said, I usually vote liberal but voted NDP this time around.

inferno94 05-03-2011 08:54 AM

I just imagine the "muhaha MUHAHAHAHA YOU FOOLS WILL NOW KNOW A WORLD OF PAIN!" in the voice of the villain from Inspector Gadget coming from the conservative campaign central.

It's sad when you see the vote %'s how having the backing of 40% of people gives you absolute power while 20% support yields 17.5% of the number of seats as the party getting 40% support.

With results like these we'll never see proportional representation. In fact last I heard the conservatives were saying it's bad because it allows Muslims and terrorists to take over the government, fracture our society and make Christianity illegal. This was from door knocking conservative party members mind you, not party platform.

It's surprising to see the huge number of ndp seats but it's also kinda sad because the conservatives have no reason to listen to them now that they have gained some serious clout, uniting of the centre / left anyone? They tryed to do what they wanted secretly before will it just be more blatant this time? :hustler:

That's funny. This is what Rick told me is going to happen up there.

The truth is everyone above me in my one job is a woman, visible minority, mental / physical impairment or has higher ups as relatives, I'm in a predominately Caucasian area of the province too.

Braineack 05-03-2011 10:26 AM

Inequality is equality.

Preluding 05-03-2011 10:26 AM

fuck thats a piss off...

Caucasian is the new minority.

There are so many billion programs and incentives for everyone else it makes it impossible for me to get ahead.

white is the new black, brown, native Indian, gay and female without the free stuff.

I have the best Toronto Police rejection letter. It states i'm not bilingual, not a female and not a visible minority all within 1 sentence of the first paragraph.

inferno94 05-03-2011 10:45 AM

More incentive to get and stay married, my wife makes 2x what I do with the same education level. :loser: Good thing she's depandant on me for everything else!

it's not racist if it's government sponsored racism.

I was speaking "off the record" with a hiring manager at a very large govt contractor (they make fighter jets) and he told me that even though I was a good fit for many of their job openings, and irrespective of education or work history, I'd probably never get hired, explaining, "You're too white and too male. We have plenty of you around already, and we're under a government magnifying glass to ensure equal opportunity for all." < his exact words. I laughed.

Braineack 05-03-2011 12:03 PM

imagine that.

soflarick 05-03-2011 01:32 PM

Guess this is a good place to ask. I met an engineer the other day who was formerly a Canadian resident. He said he came from Toronto. The city is billions in debt, but continues a policy of handouts to people who can obviously work, but don't because public benefits are so easy to obtain. One of his relative's spouse went to medical school on the Canadian government's dime (your tax dollars) with the stipulation that this person go to a certain city where doctors are needed. This person, after graduation, decided that this town wasn't going to benefit this person, so this person went on welfare, continues to collect it, and refuses to work since the benefits are enough it isn't worth working.

Seems like the US and Canada have quite a bit in common. Our socialist slavemasters must be rubbing their hands with glee.

Braineack 05-03-2011 01:34 PM

Yep. We help the unwilling and pretend they are unable.

soflarick 05-03-2011 01:41 PM

He told me that he left Canada because he was paying through the you know what in taxes, yet some of his family members actual net income was higher than his because they had "lower paying" jobs. He couldn't stand it anymore, and moved south. He also said that the US is on the way of being just as bad, and he can't believe we're letting it happen.
