He did that in his inaugural address, specifically, by name:

You don't understand how journalism works do you?

Breitbart and Hannity are opinion, and Fox News is... well, ok, some of it is journalism.

I was thinking earlier about Truthiness.

A favorite of Steven Colbert (a comedian, not a journalist), it can generally be defined as "the quality of seeming to be true according to one's intuition, opinion, or perception without regard to logic, factual evidence, or the like."

I'd go so far as to posit that truthiness has really taken the place of truth in the general political discourse. Among those people who have strong opinions about contested issues, those opinions tend to be founded upon intuition, fear and prejudice rather than objective fact.

The thing is, though, they're not deliberate falsehoods. The people saying these things are not consciously aware of the precarious foundation of their opinions. It reminds me a great deal of a line from Ghostbusters, in which the trio are examining Dana (prior to her having manifested as Zuul), where Egon concludes "She's telling the truth. At least, she thinks she is."

People who claim that Donald Trump is functionally indistinguishable from Hitler genuinely believe that this is true.

People who claim that Donald Trump was the rightful winner of the 2020 election genuinely believe that this is true.

People who claim that everything will be OK and everyone's life will be greatly improved if only the correct politicians are voted into office to pass the correct laws genuinely believe that this is true.

And that's genuinely terrifying.

I've been saying for the last 5 years that we live in a post-truth world, this is the basis of that idea. Another term for it would be 🤡🌎 Honk Honk.

This media spin on this one is so crazy, I didn't think it was possible for them to lie more.

I wish Trump had his Twitter right now, he could have a field day with this.

It is always possible to lie more.

As an example, no matter how many times Fox News repeats this, I do not believe it is factually correct that, after assuming the office by succession, President Harris intends to provide tax breaks to convicted drunk drivers, free college tuition to sexually-active teenagers, authorize the use of autonomous military drones in the War on Christmas, and grant amnesty to illegal immigrants who make space for themselves by murdering a citizen.

But some Trump-apologists will believe it.

Most of those are true Joe, the only one that's a blatant lie is using drones in the war on Christmas. Drones are generally used by Democrat presidents for extrajudicial killing of overseas us citizens.

Problem is Trump-apologists no longer watch Fox News. For someone in the industry, you're really out of the loop.

Trump-apologists aren't concerned with CCP propaganda. They actually love America.

Fox was never a friend to Trump

LAWYER WHO DOCTORED EMAIL TO SECURE FISA WARRANT AGAINST CARTER PAGE GETS OFF WITH NO JAIL TIME
by Kevin Ryan

The only person charged in the investigation into the origins of the Russia probe has received no jail time.

Former FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith today received probation from U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg.

Clinesmith admitted that in June 2017 he altered evidence to help secure an extension of wiretaps on Carter Page.

The Justice Department inspector general also found the FBI made 17 “significant” errors and omissions that had a material impact on the application to surveil Page.

Page gave an emotional speech at Clinesmith’s sentencing hearing, saying his life was turned upside down by the FBI probe into Russian collusion with the Trump campaign. The probe eventually ended without evidence of collusion being discovered.

Prosecutors argued that Clinesmith's misconduct was so serious that it warranted prison time. The maximum sentence for a felony false statement is five years in prison. Federal guidelines called for up to six months in prison.

According to Politico, “Texts Clinesmith sent in 2016 contributed to suspicion that his actions were part of a deliberate effort to smear Page and target the Trump campaign.”

The day after Trump’s election in 2016, for example, Clinesmith wrote “The crazies won finally. This is the tea party on steroids. And the GOP is going to be lost, they have to deal with an incumbent in 4 years. We have to fight this again.”

Two weeks later, when a colleague asked Clinesmith whether he would the FBI since Trump won, Clinesmith replied “Hell no… Viva le resistance.”

Prosecutors say his “strong political views and/or personal dislike of [President Trump] made him more willing to engage in the fraudulent and unethical conduct to which he has pled guilty.”

I don't think Fox deserves that compliment.

Bajingo 01-29-2021 02:51 PM

Definitely not a complement.

?

No journalist should ever be a "friend" of any politician. And they would consider it a compliment to be told that they are not.

Bajingo 01-29-2021 02:54 PM

Sorry, I meant friend in the sense that they actively dislike him much like CNN. All Trump ever needed was fairness in reporting and he'd still be president.
