I just wanted to be sure to get those two sentences next to one another.

So that you can see how you are making two different arguments, and how they conflict with one another.

On the one hand, the power to disqualify a Presidential candidate lies with Congress.

But on the other hand, it lies with the courts.

Mark my words: we (all Americans, regardless of political persuasion) are going to rue this day.

Our Supreme Court just handed Congress a huge amount of power. Or, if you believe they have always had that power (which you don't because no trial and conviction), then they've codified it into law.

Republicans and Democrats are going to abuse that power.

Not. True. If Trump was impeached by the House and Senate for Insurrection, Colorado could happily take his name off the ballot. And it would be legal.

Edit--again, if SCOTUS would have allowed Colorado to take Trump off the ballot then any Red state could take Biden off the ballot for his open border policy, which clearly is against his main duty as President. Justice has been saved, not sullied.

And speaking of fascist lawfare, there's this...

hector 03-04-2024 07:22 PM

I'm confused. He was impeached a second time for J6, wasn't he? By Congress, right? I mean, I don't watch the news, seriously, nothing at all. But there was no escaping hearing about this occurrence, or did I just make it up?

So he was in fact, tried by Congress and acquitted. Had he been found guilty, there would be no way he'd be able to run for office. So really, has anything changed?

That pretty much sums up our gov't as a whole.

It has to be both houses, and it was not. Yes, it's stupidly confusing.

edit--do I need to add that it was Kabuki theater? If it was real, would the J6 committee illegally have destroyed all the evidence they collected?

Can't say I'll be watching the SOTU, but I can imagine what it will look like.

I can't keep up with the pretzel logic from this guy.

And that's really the most tragic thing, to my sensibilities. We've got real human men and women, all among us everyday, who are absolutely convinced that "Political Party A is good, and they are fighting against the evil Political Party B."

Some of them might be right here with us, in this very thread, right now.

When the reality of the situation is much more akin to "Political Parties A and B have learned how to convincingly project the image that they are fighting against each other, when in reality they are jointly fighting against We the People."

On a wholly unrelated note... I swear, I was looking everywhere for those goose intestines. I have absolutely no recollection whatsoever of piling all those rattlesnakes on top of them.

Frankly, I am as bewildered as you are.

Sheesh, wish I could show this Twitter video properly. It's an Australian lab showing that Ivermectin stops Covid from replicating between 24-48 hours after it's administered. The video is from 2020. Boy were we taken for a ride...

John Barnett worked for Boeing for 32 years, retiring in 2017. Had had most recently worked (since 2010) as a quality manager at the North Charleston plant making the 787 Dreamliner.

Mr. Barnett then went on a bit of a crusade as a whistle-blower, accusing Boeing of deliberately using parts which had failed inspection, of over-working employees, of leaving metal shavings and other debris inside of electronic equipment housings, of not properly maintaining equipment, and other such violations, in order to maintain the pace of aircraft production,

This past week, Barnett had been in Charleston, SC, giving testimony in a case against Boeing. He had been scheduled to undergo further questioning on Saturday, and when he failed to show up, the lawyers called the hotel where he had been staying.

There, his body was found inside his truck, dead at the age of 62, of "suicide."

Being a local I heard about this the other day. I personally think he did commit suicide. Story I have heard is he was found with the gun still in his hand in his truck. I don't think Boeing did it, mostly because he had already given more then enough recorded depositions and such that him being alive at this point or not would not change what he says against Boeing. Had they wanted to take him out, it would have been done well before now.

Honestly I was thinking he was killed in a random shooting when I first heard about it. Parts around the Boeing plant are not that great, and there are some shitty hotels where randomly being shot could definitely happen. Then I found out he was across the river in a nicer part of town. So the chance of it being a random shooting is far lower.

Both the National Police Association and the Illinois Sheriff's Association have given amicus curiae briefs in favor of the plaintiff, against the State regarding Assault Weapons bans, and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Interesting.
