I know what you mean. That video is absolutely brutal. I don't understand how people can do stuff like that to someone else. This kind of video does make me take Sam Navy's advice about carrying in the house to heart though.

Brooklyn teacher not going to jail after having sex with 16-year-old boy - NY Daily News

blue state post. they are like low hanging fruit: CHICAGO COP ARRESTED FOUR TIMES IN SEVEN YEARS STILL WORKING, MAKES $80K

On Dec. 30, 2010, Rizzo was arrested for aggravated assault with a gun and domestic battery after a fight with a 40-year-old man and the man’s 18-year-old son. Both of them lived with Rizzo in a Garfield Ridge bungalow.

The arresting officers said Rizzo punched the older man, grabbed the gun, put the muzzle in the man’s eye and told him, “How about I shoot you in the face?”

A month later, on Jan. 31, 2011, Rizzo was arrested again, this time for domestic battery, after officers said he grabbed his girlfriend “by her throat and began to strangle her.” The arresting officers said she broke away and locked herself in a bedroom. They said Rizzo kicked in the door just before they arrived.

The officers “photographed alleged injuries to victim and damage to the bedroom door,” and the incident was referred to the city’s Independent Police Review Authority for investigation.

What I want to know is why I never got to be statutorily raped by any of the hot teachers when I was in high school. I mean, isn't that ever 16 year old boy's fantasy?

We had two at Charlotte High when I was there, and for the life of me I can't remember either of their names. One was sophomore world history, the other was junior English lit. Both recent grads working their first teaching jobs, not all that much older than us.

I've never understood why it is considered a good idea to hire a fresh out of college attractive male/female teacher to teach high school aged students. The age difference is fairly small and even if the teacher has no problem controlling themselves it serves as a distraction for all of the hormone ridden kids. Don't get me wrong I had a smoking hot Spanish teacher in high school and I would have done things if the opportunity presented itself but that is the whole point.

because young people are the only ones stupid enough to get into teaching.

Maybe at anything but the collegiate level. I am seriously considering semi-retirement as an accounting professor. They make really good money for really not that much work and you don't even have to work summers. Its a good way to wind down a career.

Of course if you have a degree where 90% of your peers go into teaching I imagine the pay swiftly declines.

A good friend of mine from HS / college is a teacher at the elementary level, and I can convey to you a sense of what she has described to me on the subject.

For the most part, educators in the K-12 domain tend not to move around much through the grade levels. Or, at least, they don't generally do so willingly. Broadly speaking, most people who decide to go into teaching do so with a specific pre-conceived ideal of what level they'd like to teach at. Some specifically want to teach extremely young students, some specifically wish to teach high school, etc.

Where mobility exists within the teaching profession, it is generally upwards into administrative or managerial roles. So someone who started out in the classroom might wind up managing a certain department or program across an entire school district. Or they might move up to a dean / VP / principle role.

In Missy's case, she very specifically wanted to work with elementary-aged ESE students, and spent more than a decade doing so right out of college. (She is now the assistant something-or-other of the whole county's ESE program.)

But in general, teachers do not advance laterally- that is, as a career path, one is not expected to start out teaching the very young and then progress upwards to older and older students. This is especially true once you reach jr. high and high school, where many teaching roles focus on high specific skills and degrees. Eg, one expects a high school calculus teacher to have a college degree in math, whereas a recent college grad with a math degree would not generally tend to seek work teaching first graders.

I actually thought this was a pretty clever technique. I really don't think it is the best use of police resources though.

This kind of stuff really pisses me off. I know it is a big dog and all but there were 3 fucking officers and the owner was right there and had showed no signs of resisting. They could have either let him restrain the dog or had 2 of the other officers do it. Hell they could have tazed it.
