Sorry, I mis-interpreted your replying to my post with a screenshot of approval ratings as something other than ignoring it. :giggle:

I accept your apology, but this slave owner is mad:

I'm sure her editor at CNN approved this message.

Joe, is this bribery?

House Dem now sees no 'value' in impeachment, as polls show falling support among independents

Michigan Democratic Rep. Brenda Lawrence, a prominent supporter of Kamala Harris who has previously supported the impeachment inquiry into President Trump, abruptly announced Sunday that she no longer saw any "value" in the process and called for her fellow Democrats to throw their support behind a symbolic censure resolution.

...
Recent surveys indicate that even Democratic voters are losing interest in impeachment. Meanwhile, 50 percent of independents questioned in an NPR/PBS/Marist poll conducted Nov. 11-15 did not support impeaching and removing Trump from office, with just 42 percent backing such a move. That’s a noticeable dip in support compared with the previous NPR/PBS/Marist poll – conducted the first week in October – when support stood at 45 percent.

And, a Gallup poll conducted the first two weeks of November indicated that 45 percent of independent voters supported impeaching and removing the president – with 53 percent opposing the move. That’s a switch from October, when the previous Gallup survey put the split at 53-44 percent.

I'm actually curious to hear your thoughts, no snark.

From 45% to 42%? That's not "a noticeable dip," it's less than the margin of error printed in the footnotes of each page of the survey report itself.

I'm not questioning the fact that fewer than half of survey respondents support impeaching the President and removing him from office, merely observing that Fox News is being its usual self.

I'll be totally honest here: I am actually surprised that the President has not yet been assassinated. After the 2016 general election, I'd have laid money on him not even making it into the oval office, much less finishing a complete term alive.

It's basically summarized by a quote from Alexander Fraser Tytler, who was a Scottish lawyer and historian in the 18th century. He noted:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the people discover they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy - to be followed by a dictatorship.”

And that's basically where we seem to be heading.

This could be averted by, for instance, disenfranchising any person who receives entitlement aid, but then

A: Where you you draw the line as to what an entitlement is? Is an agricultural subsidy an entitlement? What about Social Security?
B: Obviously any politician who introduced such legislation would be pilloried by the AOCs and the Sanderses of the world, and by all of their followers.

Lots of people were saying the same thing when Obama took office.
Guess some things never change.

Braineack 11-26-2019 05:05 PM

Because despite how much everyone hates him, shit is going really well right now.

triple88a 11-26-2019 09:18 PM

Shits going really well? My insurance went up 250 last year and another 400 this year.. and coverage went down.. Thanks trumpy trump for removing regulations that kept insurance companies in check but i'm glad you're enjoying your big pharma "donation"
Farmers are filing bankruptcy, twice as much as obamas bailouts have already been spent and there's another bailout ready to go soon that should put the total over 40 billion.. obama spent 10-12 bill bailing out the big 3. oh and that bailout money is going to the top 10 big farmers in the country, other 90% are losing their farms.
Multiple coal businesses have filed for bankruptcy, few of my old friends have said the raw materials have gone up nearly 40% because of trumps trade war so the company has had to hire few more people and cut everyones hours to part time because they cant afford to pay the benefits but "trump created more jobs"..
Trump has removed quite a few environmental regulations.. very little money has been spent cleaning up the oil spill in texas that happened recently.. CEO profits for the big companies have just about doubled while average wages in the country have gone down by about 10%..

triple88a 11-26-2019 09:26 PM

And then you have tons of these lunatics popping up..

"President Donald Trump's spiritual adviser and personal pastor Paula White, who runs a Florida megachurch that generates millions of dollars and preaches the "prosperity gospel," believes she's on a direct assignment from God."

Shits like this is even more common now because "religion"

"Police in Illinois are currently investigating allegations that Harvest Bible Chapel founder James MacDonald sought to find a hitman to commit murder.

“A subject came in and filed a report and we are doing an investigation based on that report,” Wilmette Deputy Police Chief Pat Collins confirmed with The Christian Post Monday.

My insurance hasn't increased since 2016 and I can have my girlfriend on it as a domestic partner. Which is super helpful since she was diagnosed with RA last year. The meds are insanely expensive. Even with my HSA plan, we don't pay anything out of pocket.

I received a decent raise and another chunk of stock this year. We are looking to hire multiple people. Do you have a link that backs up "average wages in the country have gone down by about 10%."

Anecdotes are fun and meaningful, right?

Braineack 11-27-2019 10:13 AM

My insurance rates have gone up pretty much every year since I started working in 2005. I also make 423% more in salary since then.

Russia Inquiry Review Is Expected to Undercut Trump Claim of F.B.I. Spying

The Justice Department’s inspector general found no evidence that the F.B.I. attempted to place undercover agents or informants inside Donald J. Trump’s campaign in 2016 as agents investigated whether his associates conspired with Russia's election interference operation, people familiar with a draft of the inspector general’s report said.
So I guess it won't be "perhaps the biggest scandal in the history of our country.” as the POTUS put it.

That is an FBI deep state report. It is not true. More fake news.
