12 degrees base, too much?
boosting about 7-9 pounds, 91 octane, 12 to 1 rise rate fmu and a msd timing retard, can i get away with 12degrees base? I noticed the greddy kit has you retard the timing to 6 degrees, but not sure if i had to retard it more for more boost

In the basic Greddy kit there was no dynamic timing retard device at all (no MSD box) to the 6° base timing represented all of the "retard" you were ever going to get.
It's been too many years since I've touched the MSD box, so I can't remember what the maximum retard it will apply is, but I'd wager that you're probably just fine running 10-12° base timing, as that's what it was designed for.

The above states "Engineered specifically for the Miata, this unit retards ignition timing up to 6 degrees" As to how to configure or adjust the thing, you MIGHT call Moss OR search the heck out of m.net
Good luck!
