RIP... Problem not solved. Cylinder three burned through the piston and cylinder wall during a track day at Harris Hill Road (San Marcos, TX). Anyone want a '96 in good condition w/ all new hoses / rebuilt head / rollbar, etc. (just needs a new shortblock).?

Yeah, I'm still a little bewildered about that myself. I really did try to help the guy not do exactly what he ended up doing. I wonder sometimes if people that aren't regulars here really think we are too ignorant or too malicious to give good advice. I guess a certain percentage are either young enough to know-it-all or impatient enough to do everything half-ass and think that it won't jump up and bite them in the ass because they are special.

To the OP, a replacement engine can be had in a junkyard for $400-500 if you want to go that route. The alternative is to rebuild what you've got and buy some pistons. It's not the end of the world, buddy. Just do things in order next time and you'll be fine.

This is the way it came out. I did not break it taking it out, it just slid out nice and easy. I can't believe it ran like that.
