3" downpipe q's
 

So of those of you who are running these do you have any clearance issues? If so how did/do you overcome it? My downpipe (3" in a 90 chassis with a 1.8L using ms mounts) is very tight and when the engine torques over the downpipe presses against the steering linkage which induces vibration into the dashboard which is uber unpleasant. The theories for a remedy for this situation I have come up with are:
1.beat the downpipe into submission with a bfh
2.get some oval mandrel bent pipe (naturally it would start as 3" id round and transition into an oval and back to round while executing the necessary bend) and weld it in place where I am having the rubbing issues
3.deal with it
So if you guys did my second idea where did you source said pipe? I have a source but would like to know yours as well;)

If you start with 3" round tube and then make it into an oval you will lose cross-sectional area. I'd just make the smallest dent possible to spot it from hitting your steering column or get even stiffer motor mounts.

Go RHD. What about stacking a couple gaskets on the manifold to push it away from the motor a bit more combined with a dent should work.

If I push it over I start to hit the block, that's why I was thinking of an oval piece...I am really leaning toward bfh.

Mm... Thats why I made my own 3". I would recommend cutting, Creating alittle bend, then welding. Creating dents just messes with flow.

Mine has been bent with BFH near the steering shaft as best I can tell. Purchased this way.

I did this but still had to beat it with a hammer after this to clear the subframe

That is dead sexy, I dare not show mine! It is quite crude. So beating with a hammer: 2, funky bends: 1, oval piping: -1. Also while I was looking at my setup I noticed there is a little room to the left. Would it be possible to cut the pipe off of the flange and weld it back on about 1 inch closer to the block? I am going to be redoing my wastegate piping so I am not too worried about that.
