99 & up PNP FMU options?

So besides Xede or Hydra, what other PNP options are there for 99 & up Miatas?
I hear a lot of good things about people using Hydra, but what about people using Xede? I see Xede is a piggyback ECU, but I don't understand how it works. I read that the stock computer controls everything out of boost, so how can you run bigger injectors if they're being controlled by the stock computer?

Not out yet, will have some limitations. I'm getting it as soon as it is released as my HP goals for this car aren't very lofty. Willing to trade that for simplicity.

I have a used Xede I am willing to sell for $600 shipped in the USA and Canada
Sorry to thread jack :)

Only the H and H12 models are compatible with the Miata. All subaru and EVO Xede's will not work on the Miata.

We are about to have two fueling options for the 99+ Miata. One for a low boost system and one for 8 psi or greater.

The first is the Zoom3. It is a fuel and timing device that will run with stock or slightly larger than stock injectors only (i.e. MSM injectors). It is good up to 7.5 to 8 psi. It makes no changes at idle or cruise. It only adds fuel and retards timing when under boost. It lengthens injector pulses for more fuel. It has been running on my car for 3 months with no problems. We are hoping to do the final testing this week so it will be ready to release.

The second fuel option is the Xede. It is for any NB miata with larger injectors or running more than 10 psi. It compensates for the injectors by scaling the fuel map. It is capable of handling 550 cc injectors with no problems. Shiv has idled 650 cc injectors on it, but never had time to do any tuning with them. The Xede controls fuel at idle, cruise and under boost. It also can retard or advance the timing. It can also integrate a dual map switch, boost solenoid, wideband, and water injection spray.

The Xede works in line with the stock ECU. It takes the incoming signal from the sensor, modifies it to our preference, then send the modified signal to the ECU. Once the car is turned on and the Xede kicks on at 1300 rpm, it is in complete control of the fueling, even with larger injectors.

Both solutions are tunable w/ PC. You can adjust tables to your liking.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions.
Stephanie

Stephanie, thanks for releasing more information on the Zoom 3. I didn't want to say more until you released that info. Looking forward to one of the first units as soon as it is ready to go.

Mine came off a 99 10AE Miata :) I purchased it from Herman Lui in December and never installed it. You and I spoke about it Stephanie before I purchased it.

I'm even including the 99-00 Harness. I'm loosing quite a bit on the deal, but my car is running a Megasquirt so I certainly don't need an Xede also.

Stephanie Turner 08-06-2008 04:27 PM

Ah. Cool. I saw the Subaru in your signature and wanted to make sure there was no confusion. :)

As capable as your are when it comes to building and modifying things I see no reason why you shouldn't build your own megasquirt setup. Specially now that one guy is running off the stock sensors after grinding two teeth off the stock crank wheel. I'd go that route man.

I thought about the MS thing, but there's so many different write ups about it. I wish there was just one write up that said something like "here's how to wire an MSII to your 99 and use the stock sensors...detailed instructions from A-B." All I see is this guy did it this way...and that guy did it that way...so it's confusing what I should do. Perhaps I should just buy an assembled MS II with a 3.0 PCA and then post..."I got MS II, now what?"

any word yet on how long before sales of the zoom 3 will start? and what is the price looking like?

Get an MS1 with a Bloomslang Harness from CJernigan, add an M1 CAS and you will be up and running in about 3 hours max!! That is what I did.

Chad - What version is my board?

Stephanie Turner 08-12-2008 03:09 PM

We are testing some stuff right now. Depending on how that goes.... Hopefully real soon.

The price is $559.00 per unit. It comes with base map, USB cable, and wiring instructions. We do have a PNP harness that it can be wired into. That is $219.00 pre wired and ready to use. If you want to wire in the PNP harness yourself, the cost is $175.00.
Thanks,
Stephanie

Really? you did it as standalone ? is the ac working?

superman with heat 08-12-2008 09:53 PM

marc@.....so all you did was use a mi CAS...when you say "MS1" is that like a first gen ms pnp or something...sorry for the noob question, im not to familiar with the lingo on the forums

2000 miata setup

I am on the same boat, I own a 2000 miata and worst of all i have the money on hand to get me a turbo setup but so much confusion out there i have no idea where to start. it seems there is everything out ther for miatas 90-97, 98 up good luck, things get confusing. Mega Squirt seems to be ideal but cloudy when dealing on a 2000 miata, can it be a standalone, parallel, piggyback, would ac works, whqat would i need to swap or modified and the list goees on, we need a 98-2001 guide, step by step, not a whole bubch of different ideas that apparently works but what to use when, frustrating. I should sell my miata and buy me a nissan 240.

superman with heat 08-12-2008 10:01 PM

dont sell your miata and buy a nissan......keep it, its more fun then a 240

etnad 08-12-2008 10:15 PM

yup its a pain to figure it out but i love it! hopefully we will see light at the end of the tunnel, pretty soon i hope

superman with heat 08-12-2008 10:22 PM
