I had to use a 45* swivel. I tried to use 2 45* fittings but the hose was not flexible enough because of the turbo is too high and too close to connect them. I'd like to try again with a more flexible hose material with the service life of SS lines.

I may go out there later and take a better shot for you. Emphasis on "may."

Get the non braided silicone stuff from Abe at ARtech. I've been putting off ordering his oil lines for awhile now. That unbraided drain is probably a charm to work with compared to this braided crap. I get endlessly frustrated every time I have to take off my oil drain.

 

It's hooked up with braided line but it isn't draining fast enough. My exhaust is smokey. I'll post a pic later.

Tell us about the .035" oil feed restrictor first. Oh, wait. I have a #4AN Tial .035" restrictor if you need it.

 

Smoky always or just at start up?

 

He has a journal bearing turbo, not ball bearing.

 

I think he wants a larger restrictor then. i know too much oil pressure blows out journal seals too.

 

It seems to me, and i've read this elsewhere, that the journal bearings pretty much act like a restrictor. I'm not sure though because I just run a -3AN line, no restrictor and a journal bearing 2554 and a very very crappy, poorly routed drain line. No smoking for me.

 

Smokes all the time. I took the braided line out and put rubber so that it's more flexible. It helped some but not completely. As for a restrictor, I tried a rivet and that didn't seem to help any. I'm using -4an line. Here is how it sits now and it still smokes.

Be careful - most silicone hose isn't oil resistant, and will start weeping.

I've heard this too. I had a turbo Corrado for a while and after killing the seals in the 2nd turbo, I put a restrictor on it. After a couple weeks on each turbo it would smoke at start up until it warmed-up...it was like a smoke-machine in tha club. Then, it would finally kill the seals and smoke all the time. It started smoking on start-up again and I put the restrictor on and the turbo worked fine for another year while everything else broke on the car.

Someone should PM JKav and ask him because he knows more about turbocharginators than anyone on the planet. When he drinks a beer, he chooses Dos Equis.

 

So yeah, can anyone share around what length is the drain hose. Thanks
