Any Twin Scroll experiences?

I'll be starting the installation of a Twin Scroll T4 Borg Warner internal wastegate on my '97 NA. The idea started with the excellent behavior of the BW Twin Scroll in my Mini Cooper JCW which has no lag and is very small.

Anybody here has installed a twin scroll on a non-VVT engine and if so how did it come out? Having talked with the main players in the turbo kit manufacturing area I didn't find anybody interested in prototyping a kit for a 20+ year old engine.

So I'm left to my own resources, something not foreign to me going back to the first Ford Cardinal-Saab V4 turbo which I co-authored a very long time ago.

Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Trackspeed Engineering.

ARTech Fabrication.

Drop off you car and a wad of cash to me in zip 08515.

Twin scroll, internal gate BW. This better be an efr. Custom manifold is going to be the way to go.

Krauthammer 02-21-2014 12:29 PM

Yes, maybe the EFR 6258. Thinking about positioning it downstream.

efr6258 is available in twin scroll? news to me

Not yet anyways. The 7163 is the smallest to get a twin scroll turbine housing so far IIRC. IMO the 6258 and 6758 wont really benefit much from the extra complexity and weight required to make a twin scroll miata turbo manifold. I think with all the extra bends required to get the runners to the right spot on the collector at all the same length the tiny advantage you'd gain from being twinscroll would be lost in head loss.

Exactly, which is why positioning it downstream may make sense.

But you lose heat energy by positioning it further away.

Leafy 02-21-2014 01:04 PM

And you cant really do a twin scroll from far away.

Krauthammer 02-21-2014 01:05 PM

^ and ^^ Not if you know how to increase the heat and maximize flow/pressure in the manifold. Just completed a test with excellent results.

Good thoughts I'd like to pursue but I better stop posting for today or I might get nuked as a noob.

You dont happen to own an 05STi as well do you?

if you have some valid discussions to post up by all means keep going.

but seeing you make 3 threads within an hour none of which had much if any useful info or content definitely catches people's eye, considering your join date.

Isn't Fae running a twinscroll BORGWARNER S366? He's pretty much our resident ALLOFIT massively oversized turbo guy, you might want to look him up, I'm sure he can drop some knowledge on you ;)

But its on a non-twin scroll manifold using a quick spool valve.

concealer404 02-21-2014 02:17 PM

I can't wait until my BORGWARNER S366 comes in. All you bitches are going to overflow with gelatin.

18psi 02-21-2014 02:17 PM

running NONOFIT

Savington 02-21-2014 02:27 PM

The word "downstream" concerns me.

EO2K 02-21-2014 02:30 PM

I'm surprised its taken this long before someone pointed that out.

I think six shooter and I already pointed it out.

The BORGWARNER S366 is pussy status.

Needs more BORGWARNER S464.
