Is anybody finished?

How many consider their cars "finished"?

I have a to-do list for my car that isn't short. Who here either doesn't have anything on their list, or anything on the list is just repairs for broken things?

Trent 04-13-2009 03:32 PM

i don't think i'll ever be finished. Of course, what fun would that be anyway?

9671111 04-13-2009 03:33 PM

I have a bunch of goodies coming so hopefully I'll be finished for the most part by the end of May. Thankfully the list is getting shorter.

wes65 04-13-2009 03:34 PM

I will be finished when I'm bored with the car and sell it. Which will hopefully be never.

96rdstr 04-13-2009 03:59 PM

I just need an oil cooler and I am done.

Saml01 04-13-2009 04:06 PM

I'm done.

I had planned to do two things this year, roll bar and suspension and I did em both. I am officially done. I just need to get my LC1 back from warranty.

RotorNutFD3S 04-13-2009 04:12 PM

I'll never be "done". One project simply leads to another and the car continually evolves.

leatherface24 04-13-2009 04:56 PM

Im getting to almost finished....with the NB ;)

BenR 04-13-2009 05:14 PM

At some point I may move on to either really old school iron for vintage racing, or a rally car, but the miata will never be "done". It can always be faster.

Savington 04-13-2009 05:15 PM

aaaaaaaaaahahahhahahahah

"finished"

lol

olderguy 04-13-2009 06:35 PM

One finished, one in process, one good as is, but maybe I'll do something else to it.

ismael_pt 04-13-2009 06:41 PM

I'll finish it some day..

... stamping it against a wall

kday 04-13-2009 06:53 PM

I finished my other car. That's why I bought the Miata.

curly 04-13-2009 07:33 PM

oh geez, finished. Oil cooler, full cage, COPs, MSPNP, the car can always be lighter, finally getting R-comps, brake ducting, wing, splitter, hood ducting, new paint eventually, bigger turbo, new manifold, 2-2.5" intercooler piping, 3" exhaust, get rid of cat, paint interior, better/stiffer suspension, passenger seat & harness, it never stops.

kww502 04-14-2009 11:06 AM

If your done with ur car it s time to get a new project.

Splitime 04-14-2009 11:08 AM

No such thing as done.

sexyKEVIN 04-14-2009 12:46 PM

your only finished when your dead.

gospeed81 04-14-2009 01:07 PM

I made a list the other day of things I "need" to do to my car, and things I'd "like" to do soon. This isn't even the way out there stuff, and the first list was 20 items long, the second over 30. I would consider it done to me after that, but things will likely change before I check all these boxes complete.

Milton Tucker 04-14-2009 01:45 PM

My toys will never be “Finished” I have a shed full of parts to install already, and the list of modifications I want to make keeps growing every day. Being away from my toys 338 days a year has made it hard to get them where I want. Sure I could pay some one to work on them wile I am away (some day it might come to this) but I really enjoy wrenching on my toys.

Zabac 04-14-2009 01:51 PM

I will be done when race teams seize to exist and new technology becomes non existenet. But that's not happening, so never!

SolarYellow510 04-14-2009 09:53 PM

When I feel like I can afford 285/30-18 front and 315/30-18 rear track tires, I'll buy a Corvette and stop wasting my time with a Miata. But since I like living in a house and want to retire one day, I'll probably keep burning up tiny Falkens for a few more years. :brain:

DOHCPanther 04-15-2009 08:41 AM

I have yet to see the perfect car. Something is always wrong, too heavy, wrong suspension, too many seats, engine in wrong place, wrong engine, you name it. The Miata is really close but as long as there are areas to improve and parts for it then no..

hustler 04-15-2009 09:24 AM

stuff left for my car:
install oil cooler
box the radiator
install brake ducts
install top fuel wing
install splitter

Finally drive the damn thing instead of bitch about it

Fixed for you :D

The day the car is finished is the day I start looking for a new car.

levnubhin 04-15-2009 09:48 AM

Will never be done, it's just simply impossible imo.

I'll never be done with mine. As soon as I get set on something I will either change my mind or something will break and have to be replaced with something bigger and better...

Laur3ns 04-15-2009 11:49 AM

Will never really finish, although I want to shift more time into driving than building. Car will be in the shop for the next two days and then I need some serious track time!

elesjuan 04-17-2009 09:25 PM

Won't be "finished" until it goes up in flames or meets a wall...

Stupid midwest rust buckets. :(

l_bader 04-18-2009 07:40 PM

The current Miata still needs:
- Fenders rolled
- Larger rear rubber
- Hardtop
- Minor tuning tweaks

Then this one will be "finished". (And subsequently driven until either (a) it gets totalled or (b) is willed to one of my grandchildren...)

Which is why after the above is accomplished it will be time for a trailer and some choice racing events.

Once the budget recovers (read the kids move out of the house), I'll start on the V8 installation in another Miata...

sv650_ck 04-18-2009 11:24 PM

I'll be done when I can leave my laptop at home.
