Lightning Motorsports - Walbro 90-93 Miata In-Tank Pump Kit -
change 1st dropdown to HP pump, $5more, and unless somethings changed this is the best source for them

I just got the Walbro 190HP pump for my 1990. And it will fit with a little bit of enginuity. There is a metal plate that holds the stock pump in place on the OE sender. The new pump is just under 1/4" too long for the stock screw and plate to hold it. No biggy, 4 6mm flat washers stacked between the plate and the sender plus a longer screw and voila it fits fine. The zip tie anchors the pump to the sender, the plate makes sure you have a tight fit to the supply tube.

Well, I just got done trying to install my walbro 190 HP pump, and ran into the above problem where I need a long screw, and washers (or some kind of spacer) so I had to stop for the evening and pick up the hardware tomorrow.
Would it be easier to just take saw to the 1.6 carrier to remove the o-ring, cap and plastic spacer. Then use the supplied fuel line and clamps?
How are the other 1.6 owners doing it?
update: I'm just going to cut the little cone off and use the hose. Seems like a cleaner install that way

BEGI sells these. I emailed Stepahnie yesterday and she said it is a direct replacement or something to that effect requiring only minor modification of a stock part. Maybe she means a longer screw ( ? )
I can't really picture what I have to do until I have a pump in hand.
So the longer screw and spacer would allow the stock funnel and O ring to be used ?
Will the Walbro hit the bottom of the tanks?
Thanks
