AVO/XS engineering GT2876R with .50 A/R compressor

I can pick one of these up for $500-$600 bucks. Dyno guy said it was on a Honda 1.6 and made 350 at the wheels with a cast manifold. I said it spooled very quickly.

I'm thinking about replacing my 2870 churbo.

Is this like a disco potato????

Jump on it, or run like hell

AVO used to sell turbo kits with garrett turbos...

miatauser884 04-12-2012 04:02 PM

Did they modify them in any way? I can't really digg up much info.

I haven't found anything definite, but just skipping around the honda forums, looks like a regular old potato.

I thought a gt28rs is a gt2560? Are you guys saying it's a 2860?

blaen99 04-12-2012 06:46 PM

I thought a GT28R is a GT2560, and a GT28RS is the 28xx variant.

^this. Unless I too am mistaken. I know the R and RS are quite different. Whatever the case, the avo looks like a standard RS.

Damn, I was hoping for a little bigger, maybe closer to a 2871. I find it hard to believe that it made 350HP on a 1.6 with cast manifold. Is the Honda head that much better???

nitrodann 04-12-2012 08:05 PM

....yes...

My friend has a 2000 civic si with a 1.6 and a gt28rs. He makes 320whp on 10psi I believe? It doesn't sound correct but I watched him shatter his transmission on pass #3 when pass #2 went 13.3. Honda motors man...

miatauser884 04-12-2012 09:40 PM

I might spring for it. The rs sounds like a good turbo. The 2871r is too spendy id rather have wider wheels.

R = Ball Bearing
RS = Ball Bearing + higher flowing

At one point or another all of that info has been in my brain, but it's nice to have this as a reference.

A GT28 however, is just a GT2560.

that was right before they standardized their naming convention.

Im seeing really scattered dyno numbers, but it appears that slightly north of 300 is attainable without a tubular manifold. Especially since I could run it to the end of its efficiency.

miatauser884 04-16-2012 03:03 PM

Ok, so more research with the shop selling the turbo divulged that it is a 2876R like this 705330-2 with a .50 A/R compressor housing.

I'm not really sure what to make of this. Any advice as to buy or pass? Most people seem to avoid the 2876, but I'm wondering what this small compressor housing does.
