well the bipes can only be used on the NA models and since the voodoo just came out earlier this month for the NAs, I wouldn't be surprised if anyone had tried it yet.

I ran the Bipes and JRPC on my 96 for ~18 mos. It was a great set up. I also used an O2 clamp and ran my Bipes off a map sensor. (the PC and Voodoo were designed by the same people)

I thought the voodoo had been out longer. I have been using the Bipes for more than 4 years, on my setup. It would be nice to get away from the high pressure and the afpr, and not have to pay for a full standalone.

The voodoo box will be ultimately limited by the injector size. I think it is pretty well accepted that the 1.6 ECU can only deal with about a 330cc injector. And even then you'd have to mess around with the AFM to make it work. A 330cc injector @ 43.5psi will support about 170hp (crank) or about 150 at the wheels. I'm guessing that would be around 5-6psi. If you are happy with that then the PC or Voodoo would work.

There are other options, that aren't standalone. You could run piggyback injector(s). I imagine you could safely get to 200whp using an on addtional 550cc injector and something to drive it (Turbo Link, Emanage Blue).

the voodoo seems like a nice box but it's pretty expensive for what it does i reckon.
but if you're after an easy solution and price is not a concern, it looks good.
i know i must be sounding like a broken record, but if you're any good with a soldering iron have a look at a megasquirt, or if you just wanna do fuel a DFA.

jayc72 11-23-2006 06:17 PM

Before buying the voodoo think about an emanage blue. It'll replace the bipes as well.

There is a complete setup forsale (mine)

i've had my 460cc's running great on the dfa and stock ecu for a week or two now. milage is even a little better than it was before i fitted them.

fatty 11-23-2006 06:18 PM

yeah emanage blue looks like a good option too. my buddy has one of those.

jayc72 11-23-2006 06:18 PM

What's a DFA?

fatty 11-23-2006 06:22 PM

digital fuel adjuster. it's a diy kit, costs about $60us + the hand controller which is about $50us i think.

Ah ok.

I'm running the Bipes along with the Voodoo box on my vintage BEGI 4.2 setup. I guess you can say I have a Voodoo turbo now. This is on a 94 1.8 Miata w/stock injectors. With this setup (here at about sea level) I can run up to about 7psi before I get any pinging. I picked up a set of the "green top" 305 injectors but I haven't had a chance to install them to see if I can run a bit more boost.

You'll be able to run more no problem, but you'll have a very rich and uneven idle... You might have good luck with some 270cc injectors from a Honda.

If you're looking for a TurboLink to control a 5th injector, I have one FS...email me at mcsinc@silk.net

That's what I figured. From the other poking around I've done, I understand that the 2001-05 (including MSM) injectors flow 265 @ 43.5psi of fuel. If I can find an inexpensive set I'll give it a try. The guys at FM say it just might work out to be a great little 8psi setup. I sure DON'T miss the AFPR (the Voodoo box is SO much smoother) and I wasn't crazy about running around at 100+psi fuel pressure either. Besides, I just passed smog w/this setup here in "Kahleeefornia" just fine.

EMB is great, provided you have a WBO2 or spend the coin for the dyno time

grp44 11-26-2006 12:28 AM

thanks for the imput Jon, I'm building a 1.6 and thinking of 1.8 injectors. I'm also looking into a megasquart. I'd like to have around 200 rwhp ( what I have now with my 94 ) and dont want more injectors. looking for a manifold for the Nissan turbo Im using. Most likely a cast unit from Bell.

jayc72 11-26-2006 11:29 AM

Going to 200rwhp on 1.8 injectors and stock fuel pressure isn't going to happen, at least not for very long :) You'll need around a 440cc injector at stock (43.5psi) fuel pressure.
