I've got a Big eBay special turbo on my 1.6, and I find that using "Point C" after the throttle body gives me the best response.
I have not seen any drawbacks with a year of use, including multiple track days. The turbo doesn't even spool at lower engine speeds, so no issues with running the system too hard/hot with the wastegate closed at partial throttle openings. I do agree that this would be an issue with a smaller/normal sized turbo (and that "Point B" would be the choice for an appropriately sized setup.) When I have the revs up (past the boost threshold of ~4000rpm) at part throttle I can hear the turbo is spooled up nicely. This means immediate boost when I go to WOT. As they say YMMV, but Point C in my case is measurably superior to Points A & B. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...fb59862f_b.jpg |
