Default Bosch BOV deal...had to brag

Found an ebay store that stocks the Bosch BOV for SAAB/VW/Audi/Porsche, etc., who had listed new BOVs at ~$17, free shipping. Their non-ebay website said ~$52 on sale for ~$41, so it might have been a misprint. But it arrived today, and I did only pay $17 including shipping!

Anyway, if anybody is looking for them, they upped the price now, sorry. But it's still only ~$27!

I just ordered myself one. I'm going to RECIRC and decided to start over with a fresh unit.

Yeah, I just got mine in the mail over the weekend. $27 shipped

It looks alot like the units in my S4.

I'm going to VTA with a breather filter on there. ( I have to admit I always liked that PSSHHH! you heard when off throttle )

I'd suggest looking for the DSM 1g metal BOV used first. That bosch bov is the plastic model isn't it? If so, it doesn't like to hold higher boost and has leak issues.

Not trying to be a downer... just going off what I remember.

The 1g is also setup to recirculate for those still running the MAF.

Mine is off a Saab 9-3 (12psi stock?). These plastic one should be fine for quite a bit more than that don't you think? ****, these little plasic ones come stock on dozens of OEM turbo cars. You wouldn't want to install one on 3"IC piping and a T4 pushing 20psi, but a T25 or similar @10psi should be fine.

I was originally looking at 1g dsm bov's, but made the decision to go with these because of a) price, and b) so I don't have to deal with the flange of the dsm bov and making an adapter. As Sam says, the darn thing should work great sub 12 psi, and for $17 (well, $27 now) who cares?

I have to make a sound clip of mine. Mine is a bosch sourced from an S4. It's recirc'ed and is super loud. Scared the bejesus out of first time I put the clutch in after getting the turbo running Sunday night. Almost too loud for my taste.

My intake is also really loud (short aluminum elbow, K&N style filter). Honestly I cant see how the valve would sound any different VTA.

If memory serves, you guys should be fine with the lower boost levels. I think they are mainly problematic at somewhat higher boost. They tend to leak/fail.

I believe its one of the things the audi/vw guys replace when they start modding their factory turbo cars.

The plastic Bosch valves also do fine on my chipped S4 that peaks at 16 psi. I'm trusting them to do fine on my Miata at 12-13 lbs.

I thought you couldn't run the Bosch BOVs VTA?

I don't see why not. I'm planning on running a little filter for when it "opens' up under vacuum.

On my Audi they're functioning as diverter valves back into the vacuum side of the intake.

You can run any bypass valve as a VTA, but on stock-ECU'd, AFM- and MAF-equipped cars, it'll very likely cause a lean condition at idle, and it will definitely, without a doubt, cause a rich condition on upshifts and throttle overrun situations.

yeah- a quiet muffler. I can hear now that I swapped mufflers. If you can find a fabric type filter vs. the paper one I'm using it would be louder for sure. I think they make fabric types for lawnmowers.

I've got way to much to learn about this stuff x.X

so doing it recirc helps prevents this? or getting a SSQ bov? is that right? or is that the idle issue...I feel dumb sometimes sorry

Honestly, you just need to do a search and read up. Yes, recirculating eliminates the problems.
