build thread for my xp car

So let me start by asking forgiveness for the number of pictures I'm about to post.
The car will run X-prepared in solo2. The engine and drivetrain are exactly the same as when the car was purchased, which is a Greddy kit with a small front mount, bipes, and 1.8 injectors. I do have a 1.8 rearend set up waiting to go in, but am waiting on the OS Ginken diff to arrive. Eventually it will get a full rebuild, MS, and at least 750 injectors running straight e85. The car as it sits in the final picture weighs 1666lbs with fuel. It's a little front heavy right now, but nothing will happen to address that until the new rear is under it and the wing is on the back. So here goes.... The car as purchased on 9/29/08 http://i432.photobucket.com/albums/qq49/omaharam/01.jpg Attachment 206708 Attachment 206709 Removed a lot of weight in wiring. Nice job of adding lightness without tell-tale signs of a sawz-all hack job! I bet she really scoots now.

Looing good man. 1666? Better shave some more off of that pig. :giggle:See you later this month. Bring my radio bezel, eh?
|
Forgot to mention it has an in-line walbro 255, DIY dual feed line, and an ebay mani and DP that were added above how the car was purchased.

Wow, that's a lot of added lightness, Colin Chapman smiles at you.

so x-prep cars have no provisions for any kind of side-impact protection?

No. Nothing in the rules for any class for side impact bracing. If someone kicks the side of the car I'll have broken ribs. |
Info on wheels and tires please, how'd the cutting and fitting go?

Anybody know what the weight difference is from a 1.6 to a 1.8 w/ VVT head? If I had big bucks, I'd be searching for a 3 rotor. |

Actually we could build a non-turbo 1.8 and only have to weigh 1560. Haven't done any research on what kind of power can be made from the 1.8 naturally aspirated. Not having a turbo hanging off the side of the engine would help the bias.

This is quite nice... What are you planning to do with the big hole in the trunk? Or just leaving it open?
