Or without spending big bucks, you could do a duratec 2.0/2.3 swap, lose another 100 lbs, get your weight distribution back to where it should be, and use a MZR cam cover to remain inside the "any corporate engine" rule. Quad4Rods makes a Duratec to T5 bellhousing, so there is no problem gearbox wise unless you find an 06+ MX5 trans which will bolt right to the duratec.

Yes, very close to it, according to some numbers I found on the net. Of course its hard to be sure because it could have been dressed vs. undressed, manifolds vs no manifolds etc.
Regardless, I am totally inclined to believe that number because the duratec is all-aluminum and has a plastic intake manifold. |
