Can't clock my turbo :(

I'm using an old Saab t3 turbo, and I can't freakin clock it. The oil feed is on the bottom right now. I have the thing in a vice, all the bolts are loose, I've soaked it with pb blaster, and I'm even using a crowbar as leverage in the compressor housing but now the compressor housing is starting to spin but I can't get the bolts any tighter on that side. Any suggestions? I need to figure something out because clearly I can't have my oil return at the top of the turbo.

Heat that biznitch up. Spray with PB. Heat it up again. Spray with PB. Repeat until it's loose. Could take a few days.

I had huge issues with mine.

The little nut and bolt acting as a jack is what helped the most. My prybars just bent.

Meet up with me, give me your turbo...give me a day or 2 and I'll free it up.
I'll do it for a 3 bottles of dogfish head 120 minute and 3 bottles of dogfish head worldwide stout.

Also, see if you can wedge the pry bar between both turbine housings to help separate them. Curly's nut-'bottlejack' method usually works for me every time, also.

torch it.

I've taken apart/clocked/etc more turbos than I can remember, and not 1 of them would argue with a torch.

you can even use a small butane/propane one they sell at home depot. heat it up and voila

Thanks for the advice guys. Turns out this turbo is pretty shot anyway. At this point ill probably just get another saab turbo unless there's similar size t3 flange turbos with the ford style 5 bolt dp flange?

do you already have a setup, or are you "building around the turbo"?

in which case, DON'T!

plan your setup, start putting it together, and only then figure out which turbo you'll use with it.

I already have the t3 flanged manifold, I could always get an adapter for that. The problem is with my specific turbo, there's currently no internal wastegate so there's an ewg on my down pipe. The down pipe and ewg setup are the reason I'm going to try to get the same turbo. It's off a late 80's saab 900 so hopefully a local junk yard will have a decent one
