Default car stalling while downshifting

i took a drive tonight and after about 15 mins when i downshifted to 1st gear the rpms dropped waaaayy low... then it after a few more shifts it started to stall when i downshifted to 1st gear... when the clutch is at the floor it makes a really low knocking sound or pinging, but only when the clutch is at the floor??? what gives?? motor was just rebuilt...
thanks

Wow, the sounds when clutching have me stumped. The sounds may be coming from the lack of tension on your CS when th eclutch isn't engauged. Could be some internal issues(especially if you had it rebuilt), I hope it's not. Minus the clutch sounds I've had the same issue with shotty timing, and a vac leak(between the IM and MAF, created sensory issues and the ECU didn't know what to do with all of the readings). Both issues were with my 93 KLZE-swap MX6, So I don't know if that would help you with your issue(s). What are the gauges saying? I know my post meter says I'm a NOOB. I sold my Miata in 99 and I'm planning another miata project when I get home from Iraq.
