Car starts and idles then leans out and dies
I have my turbo Miata kind of running on the stock ECU, AFM, stock injectors, and have a wideband switched to an output that the stock ecu can read. It starts perfectly fine and the AFR reads 14.7 for a second or two then steadily leans out until the gauge displays three dashes. After that the car just dies fully. I had a kinked oil drain hose coming off the turbo which caused oil to seep into the exhaust however, the car ran and drove (poorly). After I fixed the line the car stopped smoking but won’t run or drive. I immediately thought of the o2 sensor so I tried cleaning the one installed which didn’t work so I bought a new one. The new one hasn’t changed anything though. I checked the ground going to the gauge and it’s grounded to the block so I’m confident that’s not my problem. I grounded the fuel pump in the diagnostic box as a faulty AFM might be the problem but that didn’t change anything. I don’t have the downpipe hooked up to the cat but because the o2 is way before the cat I don’t think it would affect the o2 readings that badly. I noticed one of my injectors leaking so I ordered a rebuild kit to try and fix this problem. Could a leaky injector/s cause the car to lean out and die? I’m fairly confident that’s my problem but figured I should see if anyone had any advice or suggestions.
