Charcoal Canister
You can remove it. Let me add to my previous statement. NBs have 2 canisters: One by the fuel filter is the charcoal canister, and the one in the engine bay appears to be an evaporative catch can for fuel vapors.
OK, so simply splice the 2 hoses coming out of the top together? Or replace them with ONE hose that connects to both ends? No CELs right? Im still not standalone.
Ok I'm still confused. So how do you delete the charcoal canister and "overflow" thingy in the engine bay? I'm looking to free up some space and with a standalone there is no point in the thing being there. I'm pulling the engine anyway. Do you have to delete it from the gas tank to eliminate the whole thing? And if you cap off whatever is at the tank would it possibly pop off on a hot day?
To be honest FM says the hydra actually uses the catch can stuff. I just deleted the small can in the bay. I was told I one wanted to delete it all and plug it you'd have to put a pin hole in the gas cap to let the tank vent a bit. Heat and fuel being used vacuum. I'm not living in a dusty area so wouldn't be a big deal. I'm talking a small hole, like the smallest bit i could find However I garage the car and it gets hot here, not really digging the idea of a hot garage full of gas fumes. Even a little bit of fumes. Mines not a track car and I can't imagine the can by the fuel filter being that heavy. I could use to lose a few pounds myself and that would be a bigger impact probably. Or take the change out of the console.
About 6 years ago I removed this:

And did this:

Even with the stock ECU it never gave me any problems.
More recently (Today) I did this:

Removed the hard pipe and just looped from the subframe nipple to the hardline coming from the fuel tank, then reinstalled that charcoal can bracket to mount my water pump. Disregard the wiring mess, I haven't bothered to wire it yet. One day plan to use the abandoned purge valve wiring to control the water pump, but that'll have to wait for a better megasquirt.
