Clocking turbo=fail...
Just got a hold of my Garrett today. Trying to clock the CHRA and Turbine housing, with no luck at all. I have the bolts backed out finger loose on the turbine housing, and I've set the turbo in a vise a prybar in the turbine inlet with no luck at all.....If im correct, the 4 CHRA bolts under the drain and feed (the non-painted bolts) dont have to be loosened to clock correct?
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a5/...97-1_450-1.jpg Those bolts don't have to be loosened???^^^ Both turbine and compressor clip bolts dont have to be loose to just 1 side correct? :vash::vash: Any tips, shortcuts? |
Take photos of everything you're talking about.

Do those bolts above have to be loosened to rotate the CHRA?
|
on my garret 60 t3 i pollised the cold side, theres a paper gasket that is glue i believe, try seperating then rotate. if its anything like mine was desighned. i would then maybe use some silicone to reseal it

I'm not having any trouble at all getting the compressor housing to rotate. Its just everything else. Here is an actual pic of what I'm working with, do the bolts circled in red need to be loosened to rotate the CHRA and Turbine? The compressor comes free no problems.

Need this car done by daylight, anybody have any suggestions/answers?

Damn I had the same fucking problem. I gave up on that shit. I dont think removing those bolts has anything to do with the turbine side of the chra.

Well when I try to pry at the turbine inlet, even though I've tightened down the compressor housing clips the compressor still rotates and not the CHRA or Turbine. I figured that since they were facing the direction of the compressor that maybe it held it in place and thats why the rest wouldnt turn seperate of the compressor.

I tried the same, and failed too. I also hit it a mallet and nada. I now have a gt2560 that is completely useless -__- . Where's the "burning cash" smiley

Ah ha!! Do you have a blow torch, looks like thats the only way that bitch will come apart

you shouldnt have to take those bolts out! just the bolts on the compressor that hold the holding straps on take those bolts out, the straps will come off. then take a rubber mallet and start tapping the compressor housing in the direction you want it to come off. start working your way around the housing....

the compressor housing is turning no problem its the CHRA and turbine that wont budge.

Tried a blow torch already....

um if your shit attaches like the pictures there it is non clockable u can take all the bolts out and turn it but then how is the mofo gonna be held on. My mitsu uses a vband style flange on the hotside and a snap ring with oring on the compressor side to hold shit to the chra your garret it would apear is just straight bolt on not tweakability accept for at 90 and 180 degrees if the bolts are symetrical.

nvm
