So far I just got some 700cc deatshworkers, and I’m looking for some kits. Would a mega squirt be worth it or should I take the average budget route and just use a waste gate. If anyone has some tips for kits or parts they use in theirs that still keeps it reliable let me know. My budget is around 2-3k

not worth it. get a shiny ebay manifold, huge T3 ebay turbo with wastegate, and make a hood dump exhaust. Street Cred.

welcome, good luck with your build, i have to say just be prepared to spend more money than expect to. some tips, do it once do it right. greatest tip is make sure you can finish it before you start. you have different cost tiers 250 350 350+. mega squirt is almost a given, its a matter of which one you want MS2 or MS3, but how you build your car is up to you. Also be realistic with your goals, a fun miata doesn't need alot of power. something i would tell myself is to do some autocrosses before spending any money, after doing driving events it completely changed my perception and goals with the car. i wish i would have known before buying any parts for the car, and i would have also not tried to cheap out and cut corners because these led me to doing things twice. if you drive your car and enjoy auto crossing or track events that change your mind and lead you to build the car differently, maybe keep it na, smaller turbo, or even supercharge the car. however if you want to boost your car for the street and have 2-3000 to spend. I would shoot for 240 hp but with a turbo kit that can handle 350hp in case you want to upgrade later. BEGI,FM,TSE or Kraken cast manifold a china turbo, gt2554, gt2560, gt2860 (350hp), or EFR. I dont know about the cast ebay 1.8 manifolds but that might be an option.

Turbo HP pricing:

300 hp for 30 seconds = 2-3k

300 hp for years- 8k minimum.

I'll give you a tip and JUST the tip, mind you.

Read the stickies and build threads on this forum. Come back to this thread in 6 months to a year with your game plan and we'll go from there.

I'm curious about a number of things.

1: What year is this car?

2: If you weren't already committed to using a Megasquirt (or some other aftermarket ECU), how did you expect to control those 700cc injectors?

3: In what way do you consider a wastegate to be functionally comperable to an ECU? Do you understand what a wastegate is, what it does, and why pretty much every turbocharger in the world needs one regardless of what the rest of the system looks like?

4: Are you familiar with You Goat Mail? It's a service which, for around $25, will anonymously mail a small plushie goat to the recipient of your choosing.

ProTip: You're gonna wanna stick with the 1.6l so you can get your boost pressures high enough to get those desired power numbers.

You'll need at least 350whp if you plan on making it all the way into Area 51.

Came for the comments. Did not disappoint.

OP: think of this forum as an encylopedia, not a guidance counselor. You know what an encyclopedia is, right? Everything you want to know and more is in stickies RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU AT THE TOP OF THE GODDAMN PAGE marked with "READ ME FIRST!!!" Your stupid thread is trashing up the forum and making it harder for other people in the future to find quality information by searching, which is what you should have done in the first place. If you want to be lazy and play grab-*** with a bunch of flatbrim vapetards and talk about drifting lyfe, there are other forums that are better suited.

In fact, if you just type "read me first site:miataturbo.net" into your search engine, you'll probably be amazed.

So, for everyone here who isn't a moderator (which is most of you), I'm going to share a little "behind the scenes" look at content management here at MiataTurbo.

You know that little "Report Post" button, the one that looks like this:

When you press that, the forum takes you to a screen where you get to write a sentence or two about what you feel is wrong with the post. As soon as you hit "Submit," the forum software emails a copy of the report to all of the mods.

Now, most of what gets reported is spam. And that's quite helpful. It means we don't have to plod through every single thread on the whole forum looking for it, we just get the report, click on a link in the email to view the offending post, verify that it is, in fact, spam, and then perma-ban the user and delete all their posts. Fast & easy.

We got an interesting report today. Specifically, @Racer X reported 18psi's post above, with the following explanation: "Insulting language"

Insulting language? Dude, you've been on this forum since 2011, and THAT is what you think constitutes insulting language? Let me give you an example of insulting language:

@Racer X, if you were my kid, I’d un-make you for being such a retard.

I’d do it at night, under the cover of darkness, with no one but the alligators to bear witness. Your body would never be found, for there would be nothing to find. Carefully butchered into chunks no larger than my hand, you would simply pass through the tremendous digestive system of the great lizards, and emerge from the other end as a soft, semi-gelatinous mass devoid of recognizable bones, teeth, or any other identifiable parts.

The next day at breakfast, as I sat hungrily devouring a stack of buckwheat pancakes, your mother would turn to me and say “Honey, have you seen our son this morning?”

At that moment, I would take her. Right there on the kitchen table before the open window, I would thrust myself deeply into her, ignoring the prying eyes of our neighbors and the barking of the dogs as plates and utensils rain down from the table like Triple-A shrapnel over Dresden. Each time I exploded into her, I would pause to allow her a moment’s recomposure before beginning my tremendous assault anew with redoubled ferocity. Despite her screams and wailing, my back and shoulders raw as hamburger torn by her fingernails, I would not falter but continue to have my way like an unstoppable machine fueled by hate and lust.

Finally, after three or four hours, I would at last withdraw, not because I am exhausted, but because it is clear that she finally can stand no more of this assault and live. As the dogs lapped up our sweat and bodily fluids, I would look deeply into your mother’s bloodshot eyes as she wept with joy and ecstasy, and say “Those were some damn fine pancakes.”

Clear? The above is insulting language. Telling someone who is being stupid not to be stupid (and you have to admit, the part about "Would a mega squirt be worth it or should I take the average budget route and just use a waste gate?" was pretty goddamn stupid), isn't.
