Couple of questions....

I am looking only for re-assurance that I am proceeding in the right direction. I have read about as much as I can in anticipation to installing my turbo, and will finally have the time to do so this weekend.
What I have accumulated over the last year or so is: T25 off a 2nd gen DSM Stainless manifold (gouged, re-welded, and decked by a machinist) Stainless down pipe, with o2 and wideband o2 bungs Intercooler and respective piping Begi rising rate FMU MSD "miata box" Oldguy O2 clamp Hallman pro boost controller Boost guage LC-1 wideband O2 and guage 190HP walbro fuel pump 1st gen DSM BOV which will be vented to the atmosphere (with a check valve) for the time being until I get the bung welded to re-circulate it (im not a fan boy looking for cool noises its just what I have for now) I will be getting megasquirt at some point but im getting married in September, and in the process of buying a house in the next moth or so. Money is all but non-existent, and while still finishing my engineering degree it will most likely stay that way. I plan to only run 5 to 8psi, not looking for anything crazy just a quicker track car. I have been tracking this car for just over 2 years and its time to go faster. My questions are: What if anything in this setup is going to be my weak point i.e: what other than the ECU would you guys not do, or make sure to do extra? I have 305cc injectors but I would like to have them tested / cleaned, what process should I use to do this or do I need to send them somewhere? If so where? What reliability issues would you guys address first? (I have a stage 3, 6 puck clutch already.) Im just making sure I am going in the right direction, I don't want to blow my car up, but its not my daily so I do want to have fun with it. I have read and searched alot of these topics im just hoping to get some re-assurance. On a side note im going to test out a gauge mount I threw together at work cutting some parts on my water jet and welding some stuff together. I wanted to make a mount out of the way, but also in my field of vision. I didn't want to be looking down at it or have it on my A pillar so this is what im going to try out. ( I usually have my passenger seat out so nobody rides with me) Parts: Attachment 189893 Mounted: Attachment 189894 Another view: Attachment 189895 Thanks ahead of time, I understand if you guys bash me for being newbish on turbos. Haha, that's great. Temporary or permanent? Looks great for temp, although a bit unfinished for a permanent solution.

Details on car? Decent bandaid setup but the problem with bandaid setups is if you build a decent one you could probabbly sell it all and get a ms2 . What kind of manifold/downpipe? Will it bolt up to your exhaust or are you doing new exhaust? Oil feed/return lines and associated fittings?

Im going to clean the mount up a bit and paint it so it doesn't look so ruff. As far as manifold and Down pipe, they are both stainless, the manifold is a custom built one from the guy I bought most of the stuff from, but I tore it apart and made it a hell of alot more reliable (ill take a pic if I remeber) the DP is stainless as well with a flex joint on it. This will all connect to my 2.5" exhaust with a test pipe. Im planning on cutting up my rear bumper and doing a strait out exhaust but that will have to come in time. |

Did you really search? Or do you just want us to hold your pacifier to convince you that what you searched for is legitimate?

Search Term: "Weak Links" I have 305cc injectors but I would like to have them tested / cleaned, what process should I use to do this or do I need to send them somewhere? If so where? Search Term: "Injector Cleaning" What reliability issues would you guys address first? (I have a stage 3, 6 puck clutch already.) Answered in another search term. |
I used Deatschwerks for my injector cleaning and they did a good job. They are also a sponsor of this forum.

I just searched "weak links" and it said "fooger", lol. Go easy, brother!

I do appreciate alot of the info you, and many others, have compiled on this site and have used it to make some of the choices with products on my own vehichle. And like I said before, a little re-assurance before I dive into this for my first time isnt going to hurt anything. |

There's a pretty epic "weak links" thread. As far as weak links in YOUR setup, as long as turbo/manifold/dp all bolt up your setup should be ok. I would get all the bandaids setup before you install the turbo, that way you can get the kinks worked out and it will be easier to diagnose issues (it's a DIY build, there WILL be issues.) as far a bov goes it may not be the coolest looking or sounding but will be perfectly fine, ecspecially for recirc. Then after that all you need is a dsm badge to go with your turbo and bov and your good to go :giggle: |

Dosent look as bad as it is.... Attachment 189554 |
For the 60 or so miles I put on it, the car was an f-ing blast, and I have learned so much about it and how turbo systems work in the last few weeks, and racing over the last 2 years has brought me so much enjoyment that even though its gone now, and I am very bumbed about it. Im glad I got what I did out of it.
BTW.... WTS: 15 x 8 6uls in black with RA-1s on them stock soft top (tan) in great shape stock suspension el oh el This is Kris sighing off, and even though I was not much of a participant in this community, thanks to everyone that helped me or put a smile on my face. Ill poke my head in from time to time, ill still be racing too, but it looks like my miata days are running slim. Ill track my dads stock 2000 sport miata for the next couple months just so im not itching to bad. |
