Default Cx Racing Manifold

Haha, i know some people on here are going to see this title and automatically think, " oh yea time to **** a noob up". But for reals, as i searched through the threads on ****** *** ebay manifolds i noticed that all the fail stories were of the cheaper(haha) design of the Cx racing manifold. Has anyone had success using the one that cost x2 as much? Only reason i'm asking is because i have a friend who is a distributor for Cx and can get me dirt cheap parts at cost.

Cheaper manifold:
-High Quality CNC Cut Flange
- 304 Stainless Steel
- High Quality TIG Welding Process Made
- Beautifully Made Craftsman Works

Better looking Manifold:

- Turbo Flange: T25/T28
- 304 Stainless Steel, Thick 15 Gauge Tube with extra braces enforcement.
- High Quality CNC Cut Flange
- Beautifully Made Craftsman Works

Looks as if Cx Racing has heard all of your cries and redesigned the manifold so as not to crack any more/ as much. But as you can see, with any company they have kept the old design because people will still buy it regardless. Anyways, just food for thought, this manifold appears to be "better" and the redesign seems to cover all the basis of complaints except for cutting in between the runners.

Cliffs-
-As always i suck until further notice, thus no need to tell me <3

I guess that is the Garrett flange?

They might have changed the design to accomodate the flange: with the location of the bolts it would be difficult to make it like the TD04/5 flanged model.

So I reckon it'll probably still break.

The first two pictures are from the "new" design. When you say dirt cheap, how much is that?

Nice marketing strategy. And you're smart enough to divert a lot of the flack you'd normally get for something like this by making fun of yourself.

To me it still looks like crap, but hey if its better/thicker/stronger then give it a try and report back.

This is not correct.
The tacotaco cast manifolds have proven to hold up in the past and are actually recommended on here as a cheap WORKING ebay alternative.

Same goes for godspeed, speedyracer, and a few other brands of chinachargers. People had good results with them not failing, and so they're not hated on here for the most part.

its only what, 100-200? Give it a try. if you're too poor and don't have enough confidence in this to try it, I highly doubt others will.

Every single person I know of (and there's a few locals that tried em) that tried these got cracking sooner or later.

Some it cracks in a week. Some a month or couple months. But they all cracked so far.

Honestly I'd just get the ebay cast manifold over this. It has a proven record.

Would you happen to know what the gauge range for manifolds are? From what i have pulled together:

18g- Normal exhaust tubing
16g- sufficient for most turbo applications where the manifold is not supporting a lot of turbo weight.

The newer manifold is 15g with the allotted bracing needed. Seems like the thickness should help with cracking and once relief cuts are made the expansion and contraction should be able to aid against any cracking issues.

If only egay made a T2 Flange.....

Anyways, just going through the alternatives before i pull the trigger on a sweet manifold from shlammed. Like i previously stated before, a friend is a distributor for CX racing and i could get the 229 dollar manifold for like 90 bucks....

If you can get me one for a 1.6L and T25/28 flange for $90, I'll be glad to be the lab rat and run it on my car and see how long it lasts...
