And here we go..

The good artist copies but the genius steals. Unfortunately I have no one near to steal his manifold so i decided to make my own.

Preparing a :noob: flange for a :noob: manifold:

I haven't pics of how I do the exhaust ports on the flange, because plasma cut and digital camera are uncompatible.

T3 flange:

Ancient geometers were dreaming of squaring the circle. A couple of tons can do it.

almost finished:

and... done:

Bonus, how to make your own downpipe 3D design: attach the original exhaust manifold to a flat surface, make some marks, weld a flat piece of metal at the end of the exhaust manifold. Place the new manifold w/turbo in the marks. Start your downpipe building:

I hope you like it :naughty:

Coņo Ismael!

Good work.

That's awesome! You're not that much of a newb. A lot of here don't have fab skillz at all (myself included).

Nice stuff man, I wish I could make my own stuff.

Looks great, hadn't seen someone make their own flange before, good work! Are your ports really that square?

Nop, the ports are not that square, but making them more square makes easier to weld on the inner side.

That manifold design is time tested to flow enough and the welds look good too.

Wow, that looks great!! I plan to pick up a welder soon to start learning.

Looks good! The machine shop we use for the FSAE car has everything id need to make stuff like that... too bad I dont have anything like that at home =(. I love making things with a lathe and milling machines lol.

Nice job. It must be nice to have access to tools and machines like that. If I had a machine shop like that I could conquer the world. :brain:

ismael_pt 04-05-2009 08:01 AM

there is a big FAIL in the pictures and nobody noticed yet?

ismael_pt 04-05-2009 08:02 AM

BTW is fixed in the last picture.

Cspence 04-05-2009 08:28 AM

Great work there...nothing like having the right tools/machines for the job....I love working in a manufacturing plant, lol.

The mani was upside-down on the flange?

I assumed it was deliberate to "show off" the turbo if not make it easier to run the piping.

There are some little nit-picky things that arent perfect, but it looks like a solid piece that is much better off than a eBay junk, plus the satisfaction of building it yourself. How much did you spend on it all? Nice job :bigtu:

Tio, que buen trabajo!
