Legendary. You probably don't need an air filter anyway. :slap:

There are so many plans for the future, mostly to get more traction. How are your projects?

Life has gotten in the way, so car projects are typically maintenance. It's been nearly four years since I've done anything on the Miata. I still drive it at least once a month for fun but have not knocked out anything on the punch list. My dd is an 87 MB 190e 2.3-16 and that has gotten the most attention with a new dash install and new exhaust build. Boxster S got a new water pump because of horrendous howling, but still needs a gas filler door servo and pax side window actuator installs. To top it off I have currently lost a garage space due to house renovation materials storage. Work is complete and local building supply center is coming to pick up materials for donation tomorrow. That could mean more space for more car projects. Like you, in the future.

Sounds like we are in the same "life" boat! I haven't seen a 190 in ages! I remember when people would give the baby Benz the gray market AMG look, it was fantastic. That's great that you have multiple fun cars! Yup, I have materials all over the place, fairly disorganized. Also have trees to cut down! :eek4:

Jesus, I can't believe your manifold and Churbo has held up all these years ... I remember reading your uupdates from back when you first built it, and never would have expected it to last so long. Shit, maybe Ill try one too. Just bought another miata after, about 5 years w/o, and leisurely assembling a mild build, but just supporting stuff so far.

Mine is still hanging in there, too, although it leads a life of leisure and is only driven occasionally. I just took it to the GA Tech auto show last weekend. Good luck finding one. I have several eBay searches saved and never get a hit.

It is still alive and an absolute blast to drive! I drive it only once every month or three. To be fair, the additional bracing is why the manifold is fine. The churbo still working is luck I suppose. I often think about selling/parting out/rotary swapping after turning it up to see what it will do.

Glad you are getting out and having fun!

I had seen these and thought it was the same, but it's flipped upside down to be a low mount, and OFC no WG either. Honestly, I like that better though, as long as everything actually fits.

Low mount makes the downpipe a lot straighter shot and easier to fab.

The tubes have a much thinner wall thickness on that eBay manifold than the old eBay SSA/SSAutochrome manifolds.

Wow. I thought the walls were pretty thin on mine!

Well scratch that, lol. I'll need a manifold though, so either taco cast or DIY. Kraken low is nice, but $$$. I may just DIY something ... I want this build to have something that at least flows alright.

A copy of this would be nice ... maybe I could pull it off?

I've done 6.50s at 109mph in the 1/8th mile with a ported cheap ebay t3 cast manifold.

m2cupcar 04-23-2024 08:52 AM

Yeah- I thought the eBay cast manifolds were acceptable. I have one the shelf for another project- a T2X flange and it looks fine to me.
