drilling a t25 housing?

Hello Gents,

After clocking my t25 compressor housing to its required orientation, I need to drill and tap new holes to fix my waste-gate actuator bracket. My questions is, Is this a common practice? Or is there a more elegant solution? I thought of mounting the bracket to the FM exhaust mani studs but to get the proper geometry between the actuator and the valve, i would end up with a small erector-set ontop of the turbo assembly. Any recommendations would be appreciated

I did something very similar to what Curly did here: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...66/#post866717

Small length of square tube and an exhaust clamp. Cost less than $10 and assembled in a matter of minutes. It ain't the prettiest, but it's plenty sturdy and gets the job done. The only complication is getting the silicon coupler over on intake with enough room to tighten down the clamp. That part takes a few minutes to jiggle into position and get it snug but it's easy enough.

That looks easy enough.

Very cleaver design, but it seems like it could be semi-difficult to make.

Can't tell if sarcasm or serious?

It's 3 holes, one to mount the square tube and two to mount the clamp... definitely easier than re-drilling the compressor housing.

I'm currently using Curly's old kit (the one linked). The solution works fine but try and find some decently slim hardware for mounting it. I have had to cut my silicon coupler to accommodate the hardware to fit the compressor inlet as well as shave down the bolt head.

You could cut down 3 sides of the square tube where it mounts to the inlet flange and gain a lot of clearance. Angle it and you won't lose much strength.
