Default driving boosted with no form of tuning..

hey guys I just finished putting a saab t3 turbo on my 1.6. i'll be honest its a lot of ebay parts but thats not the point here

It was a good learning experience with fabricating and learning about the car, looked on the forums for any questions i had.

and it is inter cooled.

What I'm wondering, is if its safe to run very low boost (5 psi tops) without any tuning/bipes/ anything? Using a innovate lc-1 for a/f ratio monitoring and a boost gauge, right now it seems to be pretty stoich and I'm kinda surprised, so this is why i ask. Ms2 is the next purchase but my wallet is hurting at the moment, so it may be a few weeks. If i drive gently and try to avoid too much boost will I be okay for a little bit?

Thanks

Serious reply: Stoich in boost is about 2.5pts leaner than "safe". These cars were not designed for boost and they cannot compensate for it. If you think blowing up your motor within a week is acceptable, then keep doing what you're doing.

e: Just noticed you used eBay parts. Have fun with literally everything about your setup (manifold, engine, etc) breaking. Did you do any research at all here before wasting a bunch of money?

I read that Miatas are really great for boosting. Your car will sense the new parts you've installed and will make the needed adjustments on its own. Go for it!

Cheapest route would be a FPR. But that's very 2007. We all need to run full sequential fueling and timing and electronic boost control in our Miatas now that we've reached 2013.

Although I had a FPR in my early days (two days actually) and killed my first motor in two days on the street.

Quality FPR + bipes or msd box = same price as a used MS or the DIY kits.

Why would you pay the same amount for older, less reliable tech?

If i have sex with my sister and she gets pregnant and has the baby, is this OK?

What are the chances the baby will be inbred?

Honestly at this point your best course of action is to light your car on fire. This will save you lots of time and money.

Really the only other option I see is lighting yourself on fire. Although this would save you the most time and money, it will be quite painful.

OP, ignore all these trolls. The stock ecu can compensate for small changes in boost easily just like any other car. 5-6psi is fine with no modifications at all.

It's well known that only a 1.8 ECU can compensate. He has a 1.6. So what he needs is an ECU swap to a 1.8.
