For reference I plan on going with a genuine 2871 when I switch to V-Bands later next year. If nothing is proven by then, and I can find a 2871 normal housing for a Begi exhaust manifold I will drive down to DiyAutoTune to get a pull with the exactly the same tune to see what the differences are. This way we will have a built 1.8 VVT motor between the china 2871 and a Garrett 2871 run on the same dynos.

A bit off topic question for turbo guru gays:
when big turbo supra/mustang/etc guys refer to a turbo by mm, which measurement are they talking about?

You hear people say "he's got a 74mm turbo" and "he's got a 100mm turbo" etc......

Is that an inducer/exducer/turbine measurement?

I keep seeing videos on youtube with descriptions "80mm turbo supra".......

example:

I always thought that it was the size of the inlet! :giggle:

Pretty sure it's compressor exducer.

I have a brand new .64 A/R turbine housing with standard T25 bolt pattern that came on my geniune 2860, but as you know, I have no use for common bolted flange peasantry. It's the same housing that's used on a 2871. Does your churbo also have a .64 A/R turbine? Ideally they would be a similar spec for comparison purposes. If I haven't otherwise disposed of that housing by the time you get around to it, we can probably arrange something for testing purposes.

I am not sure what A/R my chrubo is. I will see if I can find that out. I am pretty sure when I order my Garrett 2871 I am going to go with a .86 A/R though. So your housing probably will not work. I will talk to you about it later in the spring.
