Default Eclipse Manifold on a Miata

I have a 1st Gen Eclipse Turbo that i plan on putting on a 1.8 engine from a 94 miata that im going to replace my 1.6 with. I was considdering buying a eclipse tubular turbo mainifold and cutting off the mounting plate and replacing it with one that fits the miata engine.. Does anyone know if this would work or if you know anyone that has done this?

Thanx

Here is the kind of manifold i was considdering

How close are the runner measurements? Might be more of a headache than its worth.

Nope, not that I'm aware of. It's likely enough work that you'd be better off building your own at that point.

ok, ive done a crude compairison and it looks like the two center runners are each about 3/16 of an inch from the center line further apart than then on the miata, and the two outer runners are about 3/8 of an inch from center further apart than the miata. So my question is if i took this manifold or one like it and cut the plate off.. Could the tubes be ajusted this much, then re attatched to a new plate?

really not worth the trouble, at this point either make yourself a custom manifold or just buy one

I'm not sure which turbo the 1G Eclipse uses (TD05?), but it's quite probable that you can find a manifold to fit your 1.8 with the correct turbo flange already (as with Darth Maulata) or at the very least, buy some manifold that's specific to the 1.8 Miata, and replace the turbo flange rather than the head flange- a lot less fabrication, and you can make the turbo point wherever you want.

You might even consider buying something like this: http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html
