Any news?

I just ordered EFR7163 to replace my GT2871r (390whp). Hoping to get at least 450whp

I'm going to do 3 dyno test:
1) EFR7163 T25 dyno with stock VVT cams
2) Add aftermarket VVT cams (custom made cams)
3) Switch T25 housing to T4 twinscroll (have to make new manifold)

awesome, interested in results! Friend of mine bought a 7163 for his Miata, but it is k24 swapped... should be a great match for that engine. Will be interesting to compare your dyno stuff with his

Nice

with 1.65bar boost it made 457whp/530nm. At that point wastegate boost solenoid duty was 100% with the stock (soft spring) wastegate actuator

Nice, with e85 or 93 octane?

Good numbers.

I already have mine installed but wait for the tune.

Thanks

E85 and 7800rpm limiter

Did you run any with 93 octs?

Btw what did you use on the spring valves?

Thanks

No. only E85 though I have flexfuel tuned
Springs are supertech heavy double + shimm under bucket

Hey Muoto,
I followed your old build thread, was a good one.

Do you have the dyno sheet or some speedo videos of this killer setup? I can't imagine how 460whp feels like. What tire size are your running to keep traction in fourth gear :likecat:

.64 GT2871 vs .85 EFR7163 (battle of 71mm's)

I run Nankang AR-1 in 245 and soon 275 size :)

Pretty impressive to see the 2871 comparison, that torque hit has to be crazy!

muoto 04-06-2021 02:14 PM

Torque is falling like it did with the GT2871r even when boost isnt' so much with help of .85 housing. I'm guessing stock VVT cams are restricting there,...or head ports(lack of flow)..or both  what do you guys think?

It could be both yes.

What head gasket are you using?

I am using OEM one and ARP Bolts hoping not to lift the head.

Stock head gasket with ARP bolts. There is a possibility I already lift the head during my last dyno pull as coolant temps suddenly jump. I have to re-torque the nuts next....

Interesting the 80's tech can keep up till 4300rpm. After that the 7163 is just crazy top end power, wow!

muoto 04-19-2021 01:56 AM

Here's a driving video with EFR7163. Mic is 5" away from the turbo

That sounds AWESOME, what kind of mic?

its a cheap "Rode VideoMicro" -mic

muoto 06-23-2021 05:20 AM

damn...I had catastrofic engine failure and part of my broken valves went through EFR, so that's gone :crx:

Should I try G25-660 next? I'm really instrested about the spool time with the 0.49 AR housing. Almost 60 lbs/min flow with so small AR, what sorcery is this....
