Default Efr wastegate rod nut.

Anyone use loctite on this thing? I’m paranoid and I know that if this thing backs off there is wastegate to turbine contact. The torque spec is quite low at 6.5 nm.

I was thinking about the same thing, mine is set with very little preload and makes me nervous; I would imagine it gets warm there being connected to the turbine housing, but im not sure how warm and how much heat loctite can take. I'm surprised there isn't some sort of circlip or some simple locking mechanism with how catastrophic a failure there can be

Can you double nut it?

nope. Running 3mm preload and there isn’t even any thread coming out of the nut.

Make a stop that bolts on elsewhere that keeps the wate gate from being able to swing far enough to touch the turbine even if it comes loose.

C3hutson, does this look like what you are dealing with? Like you said I’m atleast 3mm preload just to get enough thread to hold the nut on.

I guess it would be easy enough to cut the rod up towards where the threading starts, use a threaded union and add a longer rod that can use two nuts.

Good idea M6 rod extension, would you drill and pin it or just red loctite?

I've got a few thousand miles on mine now and it hasn't budged at all. Still the same 3mm preload. I don't worry about it.

Just put some loctite on the exposed threads if this sort of thing gives you anxiety.

I'd use JB weld on both ends in the union/joiner, and loctite on the wastegate end.
