Extended Exhaust Studs for Tacotaco?
Hey guys, I have not been having any luck locally, finding Exhaust studs long enough to use with the TacoTaco 1.8 Cast manifold.
Where is everyone getting theirs? |
We have not yet. I would probably just run a long bolt.
|
That is probably what I will have to end up doing. Thanks!
|
I don't think even mcmaster carr has ones in the correct thread pitch and length.
|
Running 40mm bolts from Fastenal on my Taco manifold with a washer on them. Could be 42-43mm, but a 45 bottomed out a touch too soon. Stud would be better but I couldn't find one quickly so ran bolts.
|
Awesome! Thanks! I have a TON of 40mm bolts in grade 10 and 12.

why not just machine or grind down the tacoburrito?

You could probably even do it with a drill press, if you have a square endmill and some patience. |
well considering begi did just that, and this thing is a knockoff of begi, I doubt you'd remove important structure

Or just use these: Miata Exhaust Manifold Stud
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1455559158 Replacement Exhaust Manifold to cylinder head stud for the older BEGI Cast Manifolds. The stud is 10mm x 1.25 thread pitch and approx 50 mm long. This stud is longer to account for the thicker head flange on the casting. |
These are 48mm long (as opposed to the "approx 50mm" from BEGI). 10mm Exhaust Studs Serrated Nuts M10x1 25 Manifold Flange 4 Studs 4 Nuts | eBay
or these for a set of 8 (48.5 long) http://www.ebay.com/itm/10mm-Exhaust...NTMSLV&vxp=mtr |
I have on occasion made studs out of threaded rod (if it's for something I like, a stainless steel one). Just takes a minute or two per stud to fix the thread in the ends.
|
I don't have the equipment needed to mill the manifold down. Most of my tools are wood working tools :D Those Begi and Ebay studs will do the trick though! Thanks!
|
For the record, These 48MM ones on Ebay are not long enough. They will be fine for the inner studs, but not the outer ones.

Based on the BEGI-supplied photo I posted, I count 42 - 42.5 full threads on each stud. At 1.25mm pitch, that gives an overall useful length of around 53mm. |
You want longer; https://www.belmetric.com/s10x125x62...cPath=9_72_174
