Finally Worked the bugs out of 96 OBII MS3X Turbo Build
Wanted to report that I finally have the Miata working well with MS3X and stock computer in place. Stock ECU controlling all the emissions and the IAC and MS3X controlling everything else. Fans, Fuel, Coil On Plug, etc...
I can get all the readiness monitors to set (With some work) and is running quite well as a daily driver. Running about 17psi.
Running MS3X, Toyota COP's, Flyin Miata Turbo Manifold, EGR still in place, custom 2.5" turbo back exhaust, GT2871 Turbo, amazon intercooler (nothing fancy, and is one piece I may upgrade still) and Intercooler piping
goes up and over the radiator.
My brother and I built a raspberry pi4 running raspbian linux, and installed that in the car with a 7" monitor on the dash.
It datalogs the stream from the MS3X USB cable and seems to log more reliably than the SD Card on the MS3X.
The software used to datalog and represent the sensors on the 7" screen is called UDash and is a custom built program that my brother wrote and is still developing.
UDash datalogs, is a virtual dash and replays the logs very similar to megalog viewer but with additional features.
Would love to hear from others running a similar setup and see how much boost folks are running on stock internals. I am contemplating turning up the boost and wanted to hear from others.
Happy to share anything I have learned too.
Thank you for reading- Istvan
17 psi on a 2871 is almost 270-300hp on a properly tuned setup with a decent spark map.
You are already way beyond "safe" stock block limits, so consider lowering the boost instead of raising.
