How does someone go about finding what Stage a turbo is? Do I have to take it apart and measure it? I bought the car w/ a lot of these parts in the trunk, I'm just piecing it together w/ what I have.... I do think there's a serial # stamped on the turbo though, would I just call a turbo/diesel shop w/ that number and ask them to get me info? :loser:

If you're talking about t3s (the only turbo I know of measured as "stages"), then you just need to be able to measure the wheel at the turbine exit (turbine minor). Odds are, if you're pulling it at a yard, then it's a stage 1. And that's why I think it's ok to run the 63 turbine - it might reduce spool, but it's also got more headroom than the 48. Here's a chart I lifted:

I was more just wondering about the turbo that came w/ my car... since it's never been run, now would be the best time to figure out if I should postpone finishing the car w/ it, or replacing it.

But thanks for the info!

Hopefully I'll pull a turbo this weekend since I ended up out of town last weekend.
