FM mani EGR bull

hey,

just sitting in my dorm room up at college thinkin about all the stupid details before i install the turbo over spring break.

Is my manifold for a 99-00. It has the EGR off of cyl 4. From the BEGI site it looks like this is for 99-00. i do have a plug for it but i would prefer to keep the egr system

My car is a 1996 with the stock 1.8. If it is for the 99-00 what do i have to do to get it to work.

I've seen a 94-95 FM manifold with the EGR in the same place. FM makes a full-replacement EGR tube; buy it and save yourself a shitload of hassle.

yeah reading thru FMs instructions it seems i need to either block it off or buy the new line

uhg i fucking hate buying more shit

It fits perfectly, if that's any consolation.

why do you want to retain your egr? I'm just curious

Good luck with that. I hope you're planning on doing the turbo stuff in a day so when it takes 5 times longer than your maximum initial estimate you have time to finish. :) I'm telling yah, I had it ALLLLL figured out. Had everything pretty much ready to turbo. Figured I'd pull the motor friday, tap the pan and install turbo shit sat. Get the motor back in and be tuning by sunday night. 10 days later I was tuning. Never thought it could possibly take that long.

As for the EGR stuff, dunno. I drilled and tapped my FM mani's EGR outlet and put a 3/8 NPT pipe plug in it. :) Fit the first time too. :giggle: Oh yeah, and probably cheaper than whatever FM sells.

My car was down for a month while I turboed it.

My car was down for about 1.5 weeks. Took half the week off before i went out to buy the correct fittings. Just make sure you have EVERYTHING.
I prebuilt the full system off the car as i was collecting parts.

Ive been working on my setup since October. I have built (where necessary) and test fit the turbo, intercooler / pipes, and downpipe already. My plan is to tap the pan and do final install in a day. I have all the fittings and little things like the crankcase lines, vac lines, couplers, nuts n bolts.

Im not going to hold my breath, but i think I may be able to do it ... my 1.6 begi kit took 2 days, and that was my first time. I will see.

I'm obd2... not to mention there is no real performance benifit of removing it.

Pat: this is by far not my first turbo project. I do see a posibility that i will be done within that week because i have planned out every little detail, but ik shit always takes longer. My goal is to get the clutch in, Hi-res flashed, injectors installed, and IC pipes atleast fabbed up. Final install will probably happen later on.

I would highly recommend upgrading the studs on that manifold to M10 before using it.
