Another DIY build
So to start things off I have been doing all the research I can in the past few years and last summer officially started my build with the purchase of a diy megasquirt kit. Spent about a week re-reading the megamanual along with the megasquirt stickys and started the task. Took me about 3 days of solid soldering and I was done.
Stage 2 began by picking up an extra 1.6 off craigslist (so i would not have any down time durring the rebuild). Once completely torn apart I started saving my pennies and bought all my rebuild goodies.
-Pistons sent to Swain Coatings in NY for a nice ceramic finish
-Manley forged H-beam rods
-ARP everything
-Crome molly piston rings
-Flying Miata rebuild kit w/ ACL bearings
-Flying Miata Clutch and Lightweight flywheel
-New oil, water pump etc.
3 angle valve job (my first valve regrind, pretty nerve racking )
Custom oil drain bung
Out with the old....
In with the new...
Engine is still in break-in process right now (want to make sure everything is settled before boost!). Working on Megasquirt tuning, and turbo rebuild.
Picked up from turbo.net
-Garrett T25 from SR20
-460cc injectors
-BEGI Manifold & Downpipe
Had turbo shaft cleaned and balanced by Alamo Turbo down in Kent, WA. All parts cleaned, rebuilt, and painted for install.
More to come...

Yeah, I really, REALLY like your oil drain setup, although do yourself a favor and put in a NPT-AN adapter instead of the hose barb. When I had mine it was a constant struggle of tightening the clamp enough so it wouldn't strip, and then replacing the clamp when it stripped out.

Damn... thats pretty good... im with everyone on the "why not a 1.8" thing... but i TOO have a spare 1.6 that im building... but i got mine 100% for FREE. thought about replacing the headgasket (all that was wrong with it, and it only has 46,000 miles) and just selling it, then using that money to source a 1.8.... idk yet...

thanks, ya I have all AN stuff with stainless lines, but im running it all with silicon first to make sure I have the placement right. Still working on the oil cooler placement, trying to fab something up under the passenger headlight... I have turn signal intakes so i think I should get some good cold airflow. I'll post up some pics of my ideas soon.

Ok so today was the big day to get MS in the car... while I got it "in", I have had no success getting the car started. I am having a few issues and I dont quite know which to go after first. I have loaded MS with base 1.6 map, as I am trying to get it running NA before I boost, all of my bench testing with the STIM seems to be working fine and outputting signals to my laptop.
1. The MS is not turning on the fuel pump during cranking or at any time for that matter. I have pin 37 connected to the fuel pump relay via the light green wire under the steering column and the SIGN fuse pulled. The only way I can get the fuel pump to turn on is by jumpering it in the diag port.
2. I am getting no rpm output to my laptop during cranking, not even a blip.
3. I am only getting 3 output readings to my laptop, MAP, MAT, and battery voltage.
I feel like the fuel pump issue is not a major priority because i can just jump it in the diag port to make it run with ignition. Therefore my head jumps to 2 possible problems, no spark or not at the right time...or no injector pulse or not at the right time. I just dont know how to track them down within the MS.
Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
