So I had one of the guys at work weld the waste gate port closed on my 16g. Anyone ever try this, wondering what will happen once this thing see a heat cycle.

It's been done many times before, as long as the welding is done right you have nothing to worry about.
Speaking of welding, have him weld it all the way, from the pic it looks like a partial only, and go ahead and remove the actuator altogether and weld that hole as well.

If you get him to weld the whole thing (which I think is a waste of time) make sure it is bolted of at least vicegripped down so it doesnt warp.
...Probably why he didnt weld the whole thing in the first place.
