Default Help with Garrett GT25r water/oil lines

Hello all,

I have a GT25r (actually a stock MS Protege turbo that is the same as the GT25r) and I need to pick up the oil feed and return lines as well as the water lines. It looks like I can source all of it from ATP turbo, but I need to know what exactly I need. I'm looking to go SS for the oil and rubber for the water. For the water connections on the turbo, I believe it uses 14mm banjos (can someone please confirm this). For the oil connections I need to know what size input to get and which flange for the output. I have a 94 and I'll be using the oil source port on the engine. I need to know what size that is, and how long the oil lines should be. Thanks for your help.

Every turbo is different. Your best bet is heading over to a pneumatic supply store and custom-fitting all the banjo bolts and such. Fill in your location so we can recommend a store in your area.

Really? I thought all GT2554R turbos would have the same connections.

Tony

OH yeah....I'm in San Jose.

Excellent. Royal Brass is in San Jose, and they'll have everything you need.

You'd think they'd be the same, but Garrett can't even keep the NAMES of their turbos the same (GT2860 = GT25 or some crap). I wouldn't want to recommend a bunch of sizes only to have them be wrong.

I ordered all the bits and pieces for my feed line online (feed at the turbo is PROBABLY a 7/16-24 inverted flare), and got the oil return from ATP, but I picked up all the fittings for my water lines from Royal Brass.

Great. As for the oil lines, how long should they be, and where do I get the oil pan fittings? Can't I just use a 14m banjo with a barb to access the water from the usual location (the thermostat housing), then rubber water lines to the turbo.

lol.... you really dont need to be exact on the dot per say towards the oil lines..... just whatever you think is long enough.... doesn't affect performance at all if it's too long, but if it's too short then you wont reach the turbo of course

For anyone out there using a HKS mani on a 94~97 and getting the oil from the spare port in the block draining to the oil pan; Can I please get the lengths of the oil lines? Thanks. Oh Yeah, where can I get the fitting for the oil pan? Is this something that flying miata would have?

Thanks
Tony

BEGi definitely has this if nobody else gives you a good source. I bet that FM would have this, but if you don't have a good reason to go to FM, I'd say support BEGi.

Tony,

Get a decently long piece of vacuum line (or string or pasta) and mock up the line for feed and return. Then messure. Easy. Unless you don't have access to the car and or/turbo setup.

I am using a BEGi manifold, so YMMV, but I do have some extra length on the oil line. My feed line is 24", and my return line is less than 24" but more than 12", and I used high-temp silicone on the return which is only sold in 12" increments.

The fitting for the oil pan is easy, and Royal Brass will have it. It's just 3/8 or 1/2" NPT (whatever you drilled/tapped to) on one end and a 5/8" hose fitting on the other. Use a hose clamp and you're done. The fitting into the block itself is harder; the thread (according to my buildup price sheet) is M10x1.5, and I ordered mine from Paragon Performance since I used a -3AN feed line which made everything hard to find.
