Help/Input: Custom Intake manifold, what Throttle Body??
Hello,
I am having a custom intake manifold made up for my FE3. I will be running MS and it will be turbo'd. I am curious what people choose to run as a TB when going custom. I have 4 diff TB's currently to choose from but looking for ideas. Info: Wanting to run 280+Whp IC piping is 2.5" Turbo is T3/4 50 Trim Current TB's are: 90 1.6 05 MSM 1.8 90 MX6 2.2T (F2T) TB 95? Q45 90MM TB (3.5") Thanks, Brandon |
Out of those, I guess the MSM.
The F2T has two butterflies and is annoying. Q45 is probably a bit big. Why not a Mustang 70mm or something? Custom manifold means you can use a nice throttle body. |

what about Mustang TB's ?

Maybe some throttle body in the 65mm range that doesnt have throttle shaft breakage issues.

why not go with a honda style throttle body. They are relatively cheap can be had in sizes up to around 90mm and you can have a IAC on the bottom of the throttle body if you have a way to control it. I personally have an ebay 90mm I would not suggest using one of these. lol

because most aren't designed to be used with a throttle cable and there's no preload in the clockspring and you're left with an incredible sensesitve limp dick throttle that can stick open if you don't add addtional pre-load to it?
Hrm i wasn't aware.... I know of at least one MX6 guy that used an aftermarket Trickflow Mustang TB without issues, but never really paid attention to the linkage. Something i should research it seems... i was planning on using one on my 93. |

an ITR TB would be a good one. You also need to factor in the ease of adding a TPS and Idle Valve to the mix. |

I'd go for the 99+ verison so your idle valve doesn't need it's own air source off the charge pipes to make for easier installation. |

Your throttle body could freeze if you decide to drive in Northern Canada in -40* weather.
