Default Help me decide!!! Gt2860rs, td04h-15g, td04h-19t?????

so I can't make up my mind and I keep going back and forth.... I have a new garrett gt2860rs, a used greddy 15g and a fresh rebuilt greddy 19t and I can't make up my mind on what to use and what to sell.... I wanna run 15psi and I have a 1.6l so I'm a little afraid the garrett might spool up way to slow... What do you guys think?

What's with guys who set themselves a boost goal? Those turbo's are far enough apart flow-wise that you might see a good 75whp difference depending on setup at the same boost.
There's no way you're gonna run 15psi on a GT2860 on a stock 1.6... you'll drive it hard for week and put a rod through the block... not to mention that none of the housings on either end of each of those turbos are compatible, which means you'll need a new dowpipe and manifold to put the GT28 where your 15g is now.

Set yourself a power goal, then use a turbo that will get you there in the fat part of it's efficiency. You'll need to know how to read a compressor map. So, forget about how much boost you want... AND TELL US HOW MUCH POWER YOU'RE LOOKING FOR, AND WHAT THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE CAR IS.

The 15g will spool the soonest and will handle as much boost as the stock engine can handle. Assuming the 19t has the same turbine, it will spool about as fast and have 20-30 more hp on the upper end. The 2860 will not be very fun until the upper end of the rpm range and will suck if you ever plan to track the car.

15psi is agressive, plan on running 10-12psi until you build our motor. Plot out 10, 12, and 15psi on each compressor map and choose the one w/ best effeciency. Or post up your results and we'll look at them.

You either need to make your own decesion or tell us specifically what your priorities are (driveability, max hp etc...)

Or, look at the spool data thread and make a decision.

Well I want to be at around 240-250 whp. I have the greddy now at 12psi and around 200whp it's boring! The car is just used for weekend fun, so I barely put any miles on it. Not looking for any track time, just plain highway and back road fun. I tryed and tryed figuring out flow data sheets and I just don't understand them.
So let's start again. I want 240-250 whp and if the motor will only last 30-40k miles it's fine cause I'm looking to building a 1.8 and to put in it

You should be able to accomplish that HP goal with just the 15g but if you want some head room go with the 19T, the 2860 depending on AR could be capable of 100hp more than that, and it will definitely blow up your stock motor.

I've got a GT2560 with 2000 miles on it that I'd trade plus a little $ for the GT2860 if you're interested. That might be a better option all around for you.

I'm making your power goal with the smallest of the three turbos you've mentioned, OP.

I'm running the equivalent 0f a 2871 on my 1.6. I see 15 psi by 4000 rpms. No dyno #s yet.

You should be able to meet your power goal with the Greddy turbo. A 3" turboback and good tune should get you there. Are you still running the stock downpipe? If you are, then that's your biggest problem. A 2.5" exhaust and 12psi should be good for more than 200whp with the Greddy turbo... provided you've upgraded the DP.

The GT2860 will require a completely new mani/DP/intake/hotside... $$$.
I don't know about the compatibility of of the other 2 turbo's on the turbine side... but if they're different, then you're in the same boat with those.

Have you had the car tuned at all? Would you be willing to show or tell us your AFR curve or post your timing map? Basically, I think there's a lot more potential in the equipment you currently.

Why? 440 is big enough. 440 was big enough for Ben's NA and 460 is plenty for mine.
