I just finished my hx30 miata build, I hit 18psi at 3800rpms. awesome turbo, at 18psi it really comes to life. I have done alot of research on the hx30 and hx35. A hx30 is maxed out right around 24psi. After that it is just blowing hot air. The hx35 runs out of breath at 32psi. I'm now looking to a 30%meth/70%water injected set up sprayed at the tb. should help with the egt's and intake air temp. I most likely set the boost up to 20psi and be done with her. goal of 320hp

Great turbos..... I had one on my 92 9000, 400whpish.... it was fun... but my car didnt come alive until 65MPH in 2nd gear..... I couldn't use the power legally at all:(

My tuner is running a super 40 on his NG900 Vert, he makes 718bhp.... good stuff...

But for a miata, I think a rapid spooling turbo would be way more fun

Some of them are VNTs, or variable nozzle, which is usually electronically controlled but can be converted to work with an internal-wastegate type of actuator.

Here's a link to a "results" thread on DSMTuners regarding Holsets. It has the same info copied in the first post of this thread, as well as links to the other Holset threads on Tuners, if you are looking for a good 10 hours of reading lol.

I know this is an old thread but I don't have enough posts to pm anybody about my question. I've got a b6 miata and I plan on running a twin scroll hx35( I know it's a little big). The question I have is would I need to run an oil restrictor if I am using a -3an oil feed line? I also plan on running a BE high flow oil pump with billet gears.

With a -3AN line you should not need a restrictor.

Are you going to be making a twin scroll manifold to go with it? I know absurd flow lists/shows as having one designed and I have one cad'ed up for a 1.8, but it "should" work if I just changed it to work on the 1.6 flange. But mine would be a complete bitch to weld up, because nest-o-snakes to try to get equal length runners with the correct cylinder pairing.

WHen using a twin scroll Holset, you want to use a twin scroll manifold:

The holset does not come in a Twin scroll.

What you refer to is a "divided housing."

Holsets are a great cheap buy but when it comes to a proper (not ebay kits) rebuild be ready to fork your Benjamin's over.

They don't put them on the same tolerances as the original. Like a bandaid on a sugical wound.
